Level scaling broken?

I've been having fun with this game, but I feel like I'm completely stuck now...

After the first couple dungeons I ran into a dungeon that I had some trouble with. So I decided to go back to an earlier dungeon to grind some. I had a lot of fun getting new forms and powers so I ended up grinding until all my forms are now B rank and I only have a couple form quests left. I'm level 36, bought all the passive skills that were available and have upgraded all atk and def skills a lot. But to progress I now need to do ancient robot legendary dungeon. It seems like this dungeon scales with your level somehow...

I saw a YouTube video of this dungeon. That guy was level 21 and the dungeon was level 18. He had way less upgrades than me. He used magician's pets and everything just died really fast for him. Now when I try that, I'm level 36, the dungeon is level 42, minions (wether magician or zombie) die really fast, if I go into melee range I die really fast, and on the first couple screens there are already multiple monsters that have massive hp (I just don't make a dent in them) and they have this beam that just latches on to me to drain my health so I can't evade that... It just seems impossible at this point? I have ways to fight it for a little while but I just run out of mana, then get damaged a lot while getting it back and I simply can't outheal the incoming damage. And yes, I am breaking the wards.

Does this game just have really terrible level scaling? I feel like I'm being punished for having grinded too much. At this point I think I'm just giving up on this game unless someone has a brilliant solution. I know about combining different skills, I've been trying different builds, builds that absolutely dominated everything up to this point, but suddenly the game is harder than dark souls and much more unfair.

Hi Finraziel. There is some level scaling in all areas of the game, but once you see a dungeon or overworld area, the level of the dungeon or area is recorded and its scaling stops or slows down, so you should be able to level up beyond the area. If you are running out of form quests to level up with, I'd recommend completing the infinite quests you get from shops, as well as side quests your find in the over world. If you haven't fully explored the desert and the spooky biome (to the east) I'd recommend doing that too.
