Once in the "Controls" menu, press the button shown on the bottom left of the screen to "Assign Controllers". Once in the "Assign Controllers" menu, use the directional buttons on your keyboard and controller to assign them to different players. Once you've done this, you should be able to use the keyboard and controller to control different players
Hi there, sorry for the late reply. Could you provide any additional information? What devices are the host and client trying to use? (Example: Host is using keyboard, and client is using a controller).
It sounds like you are using the in-game Online Multiplayer menus to play remote play. That menu is for two people who own the game to play online multiplayer without using remote play.
To use remote play, launch the game and invite your friend with steam remote play. The host needs to load a save (or start a new game) as if they were playing single player (Do not go into any Online Multiplayer menus). Once the game has started, the second player can press A on their controller to spawn in a new character. If you look at the top left corner of the screen there should be some text that says "2P Press A" or something like that. If this still doesn't work, something is wrong either in the steam remote play settings, or the in0game Controls>Assign Controllers setting. First try the in-game control assignment menu and make sure only the keyboard is assigned to player 1 and all other devices are unassigned or on player 2. If that doesn't work, double check the remote play settings.
Let me know how it goes or if you have any questions.
