Nothing set in stone right now as the focus is on core gameplay currently, but it's a distinct possibility ;)

Not to mention that only having public servers in an open world game limits the longevity of your game. After a certain point, experienced player gain enough power and control over a map's resources to make it almost impossible for new players to start out. With no new players, the game quickly dies except for a small group of dedicated players. I've seen it happen time and again in games like this. Don't make the same mistake.
after my playtest today though, private servers would be the better option. that way people can set up servers wherever they are, rather than having to deal with ping.
