I mean and correct me if I'm wrong... you can find 4 parts in every area so what's the benefit from a counter?
If you look into your inventory and you see that you've a torso and a head for example, then you know you have 2/4 parts.
Not every set is exclusively in one area. Karu Crags has all of the Gladiator, but two of Root Seer. Drowned's arms are just outside of The Town to the north, and then the rest aren't obtainable for a huge stretch of time until you reach the Coast.
Armor Legs are straight up in a transition area between Corwid Territory and Zonectic Mountains, while the first two parts are just flat out in The Town, and the head is bum ♥♥♥♥ in the middle of Zonectic Mountains, so suddenly it's another long ass time just to get the legs for the set.
But just because I didn't pay enough attention.
But judging from the number of "I'm still missing x/y body parts" topics in the forums, I think it's fair to say that many players have trouble finding them all. Which may turn into frustration as missing a single body part by the time endgame comes around may mean you'd have to go through the ENTIRE map again just to find the one last missing piece. And I don't see the harm in adding a simple per-location counter to help those folks along without ruining the experience for the rest of us by adding something way more intrusive.
