Almost threw in the towel fighting Pseudo's master
I actually had to switch to M&K so I could time input presses better and also for anyone that beat him like was there any better way to go about not getting grabbed by him? I eventually found a rhythm of dashing in, doing a few attacks then backing off but it was rather drawn out because he could just grab you if you were within range of his outstretched hand even if I was a little to the side or around him. It was harder for me too because my ritual belt wasn't upgraded that much so, I just had to go in and fight him w/o any perk.

I used sideways dodge attacks, which I also use on everything else. Ended up finishing him in night form. I also didn't have enough ritual stuff to beat him, but I think that's intended? Maybe to send a message that Eo is lonely and wants materials, because I definitely cleaned out his stock after that fight.

Yeah I try to parry sometimes but I'm just "kak" as the characters put it with the timing so dodging seems to be more useful.

It really ramped up at that point, really infuriating the fact you need to fight two statues and skip 2 cutscenes, plus a long run to reach him.

-Try to win the ritual and go for the slow acting poison, thats half his health at least in a minute.
-Try to parry ONLY when he pounds the floor, if you have enough distance to dogde, dodge instead.
-Make sure you have recovered guard before trying anything, hes slow you cant kite him around.
-When he extends his arm to grab you, you cant slide to the sides and try to get behind him, and then you can 3 hit combo with mamooth stance as he keeps walking foward.
-You can also use the DODGE FOWARD + attack combo when he finishes an attack,
-Lure him into attacking and then respond.
-Play it safe

I also used spear stance mostly to keep distance, the charge attack works great if fully charged and you time it well.

And bring a super attack ready, you can punch the astrovores or the statues on the way to the temple to get it charged.
The ♥♥♥♥♥♥ just takes it in the middle of the chest, but still

Well I just finished the game, almost 20 hours playtime and I had the spear and mammoth stance but I put all the figurines into slash (my starting stance) and shadow. That kind of made my combat style locked into one set since there is currently no way to respec your character. So I guess I wasn't well suited for some fights but I had to make it work which was somewhat frustrating because I had to redo some of the fights over and over and over and this is why I don't play many games like this w/o some sort of difficulty setting. This and Elden Ring are the only two souls-like games that I have beaten, the stories were okay but the gameplay just kicks me right in the kak.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Just a few days before the launch of the game this fight was really easy and we decided it would be pretty ant-climatic to have such an important challenge be so trivial. We might have gone too far (oops). :steamfacepalm: I'm taking notes for a next content update.

Really appreciate that you actually took the time to beat it despite the high difficulty. We are going to be balancing out some things for upcoming updates (soon) and this feedback is really valuable.

Anyways, Rock Paper Shotgun said this was harder than Elden Ring (I don't agree... I quit at the Fire Giant, but I'm a dev :steammocking:) so I guess you earned some pretty decent bragging rights. :)

If you guys make the fight(s) easier i would suggest maybe adding an "Hard Mode" or something along these lines since personally i think most if not all the fights are way to easy in this game. And making the fights even more easy would make these battles kinda boring.

No worries. We're not toning down the entire difficulty of the game. Just want to make sure there aren't any specific difficulty spikes that feel off.

I think the fight with the master is pretty good if you remember his advice- be quick on your feet and dodge.

His walking grab move is slow and highly telegraphed so you can just back away and punish him when he drops his hand. Side dodging helps with his frontal punch and jumping when he does a ground pound.

You can't just wail and try to stun lock him as he has high stun resistance. It's a test of what the tutorial taught you and also the fact that he literally reminds you mid-fight about your training.

i think souls messed up how you're supposed to play this game. this game is MUCH faster. you want to be using dodge attacks often and have almost never ending combos where your in a position where you can't get hit.

Good comments, I'm not the developer obviously but reading these makes me reflect on how I handle a situation that these types of games put you in. Thank you, everyone.

I tought he was talking about the first fight with the master at the temple, found out there was a another at the end and its way more difficult, I did kinda throw the towel for now. Hate the fact he links with you and you are literally hitting yourself.

I think I'm screwed.
They guy has purple health bar and once you are on the colored path there's no other way to go, right? 😪
I hope this doesn't make me quit this beautiful game.

If anyone is still having trouble against him - here's a relatively strong strategy:

When he starts walking with his hand extended (looking for a grab), dodge multiple times around him until you are kind of behind. Because by the end of the "walk grab" sequence you will be located behind, the boss will almost always do a "turn around" ground slam to face you. Here is where the key to beating him is: The Parry

The turn around punch has a lot of start up, so its timing is easy to memorize. After the parry just go wild on him with attacks into cancels.

If you repeat this a few times you should be able to beat him relatively easy. He tries to "walk grab" quite often, so it will provide you with multiple instances to execute the strategy.

As he turns you don't want to be too close to him, because you will either parry the fist as it comes down to the ground (and then hit by the shockwave), or get hit early. What you want to do is parry the ground shockwave.

Hope this helps!!!
