I'm honestly out of touch with the kids and expect to stay so for the foreseeable future so I'll never be sure how marketing works.
No one cares.
Specialists make for content that is easier to monetize and shovel down throats. That's all.
This isn't about benefits for anyone other than Tripwire.
if someone actually wants to do a decent job as the Commando (that's if Slo-mo extentions are still tied to Commando) you won't get goons entering the game or switching to take the same perk ruining the timings. Also, no 3 Demo games, no 2 Survivalists 2 Firebug games etc.
Takes a lot of flexibility out and you're hoping players know the 'Hero' they're stuck with well enough, but hey ho, see how it goes.
According to their latest FAQ announcement,
Can Multiple Players Choose the Same Specialist?
Absolutely! There are no restrictions on how many players can pick the same specialist. If you want a squad with three Commandos and three Sharpshooters, that's totally fine.
Having multiple specialists/perks in one team will still be a thing
I'm all for making the game more readable in fact when they first announced this i thought that they were going to limit classes (so only 1 commando) for this reason and was wondering how that would play out.
Once they confirmed that this wasn't the case and you can have multiple of the same class then you have clones and cant tell players apart anymore. Like when you want to communicate with "the commando" and there's 3 commandos who are you talking to? back to using player tags, the score screen or players location to communicate (although if the games easy then comms arent even that important).
That's before cosmetics which is going to be hard to tell classes apart again - like Medic has White clothes that make him stand out - if the elite edition makes them black/grey like everyone else then we're back to square 1.
So limiting classes to characters just ends up annoying players that cared a lot about KF2's customisation aka "Fashion Floor".
Hopefully in the future they'll end up splitting characters and classes again and making the class's equipment visible on a character to help with identification.
Like i think the Engineers backpack thing looks pretty stand out because it adds a big boxy silhouette to the player. I guess something similar could be done with Fosters Drone and the Ninja's arm grapple sleeve etc.
The animations from KF2 look vastly superior to the animations offered by this game -- Mind you, there are some good Animations here, but they're on-par AT THEIR BEST with the previous entry.
I am not inspired by the upgraded Gore system, because they downgraded the Hell out of the one that shipped with KF2 -- we won't know what that will look like until months, maybe a year, from now.
But from what we can see, it is not inspiring if you have already thoroughly played KF1 and KF2.
Atrocious game design. Good work western devs.
