It does feels a little more by the numbers this time round, though.
I don't doubt that KF3 will be improved much more significantly later down the road but frankly its just gonna end up being another payday 3 situation again and its upsetting is all
But KF3 so far feels... Unpolished and messy at the moment. Yes it is a beta, but it's only about 4-5 weeks away from launch. This is essentially the final build we're going to get.
The animations are so janky and feels clunky to move around. I'll play more tomorrow since I'm only one game in, but seeing people play, reading reddit/forums, trying it for myself it's got me a bit disheartened..
They added and changed some things for the better but overall they took a massive step backwards on so so many things.
I was there for the start of KF2, at the start it had good bones and just needed more, which is fine. This and I hesitate to usually put beta's to a high standard has an absolutely awful direction, I'm struggling to think of anything redeemable.
Each character only gets 4 weapons to pick from total and the designs of the characters and monsters are all just, generic sci-fi
I will add that I'd like to be proven wrong by the full release but to me it just seems like the game wants to go in a direction I don't want to follow
To be fair, anyone can use anyone's weapons, so the pool is completely open - I do agree that the characters are all a bit boring, though.
I think the game's big sin is that it's just completely average and forgettable, and much of that is because the sense of grime and nastiness feels like it's gone. I suspect if that was re-injected, people would feel much more positive about the game and it's future.
It's not a bad game - anyone talking about it being a dreadful game just hasn't ever played a game that was actually dreadful - but I just don't find anything in it to compel me to play it over anything else. But I'm very open to Tripwire fixing it, and which point I'll happily be a customer.
Can you grab the others? One of ours died and didn't leave a gun but they may have DC'd too.
Yeah I can definitely agree, it's bland and just generic, it's definitely not Hunt down the freeman bad.
No, you just buy them in the store like any other gun. Click the class icons - it's not exactly well sign posted, but they're all there. I've definitely had Katanas on Foster.
I'm not comparing them, I'm just saying that KF2 faced a lot of "New thing bad/Old thing good" at launch as well, and it turned out fine. If there's ever a KF4, I'd bet dollars to doughnuts that there will be people lamenting that it's not a patch on good old KF3.
But this is something pretty much every video game series suffers with, of course.
Ah gotcha, at least that's one less complaint for me to have!
You might still have a valid complaint; I don't know how much the perk trees support in-class weapons specifically as I've not played enough yet (and might not). If the perks DO support the weapons you're supposed to use, then it's just an illusion of choice really.
Its coming out in 3 weeks so.. there is not enough time to fix all the issues. KF2 wasn't that bad when it came out. Pretty sure it had good reviews cuz i bought it on day one.
