Game Freezing While Talking To People

My wife and I picked the game up yesterday. Since then, the game has soft frozen while in a discussion with an NPC where it does not allow progression of the conversation. It seems like the game is still running, but it is not possible to get out of the conversation. The only way to fix it is to exit the game and restart.

May I ask, does it freeze during multiplayer? Also just to double check this is for windows, and does it freeze every time or just the once?
