Finally the first challenging boss fight Alicia. A look on game mechanics
Important - This topic is for challenging seekers only. If you play this game causally, this topic may not be for you.

I have also made this topic because I'm thinking of making my own game some day so its nice to get opinions.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So I reached Alicia in story mode and got destroyed and I was happy to see it... somewhat (I'll explain). Some of the previous bosses were fairly tuff but most of them I beat even if its just by the skin of my teeth.

I think the first boss gave me a lot of trouble. This was when you only had 2 characters, not 3.

Note: I don't use Hp/MP/revive recovery items on this game.

Fighting Alicia was sooo bad that I could not get her down an HP bar. She treated me like a kid and I reverted to button mashing somewhat lol. It was hard to counter, she's constantly has her super armor on (by super armor, I mean the blue glow that removes any flinching on her), and she does a ton of damage.

So.......

I thought to myself there are two ways I can beat her.

1 - Git good
2 - Grind and upgrade my gear.

or both.

However, I checked out a No damage run by chobijas

https://youtu.be/c32JI5PuU48?si=PeikEbtpaD3B0pRN&t=1406

This player does 10x more damage than me and instantly forces her into a break. The range attack and dodge strategy is what I had intended to do but then I decided against it because I wasted no damage. I then decided that this wasn't going to work and will grind/upgrade my gear at this point.

so I'm wondering....

Why this boss at this point is there such a HUGE jump in stat boost requirement? Imo, this should be adjusted. But perhaps not?

So Here is my question:

Would you prefer to go straight through story mode, or do you feel that if you are "stuck," you would not mind grinding for materials to get stronger, then face the boss?

---------------------------------------------------

One more question. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Its possible I'm missing skills at this point.

1 - Nia is the only character that can counter. true or false?

When I attacked Alicia for the first time, my level was already 65. I had installed the experience bonus (core) and gave all the (ability fruits) to the heroine. The value is much higher than yours, so I was very relaxed

I see. I wasn't sure who to give the fruits to so I'm just saving up.

Whats the experience core?

Update - Oh, you mean whatever boosts your exp gain. Yea, I didn't bother with those.

It’ll be great if you can finally pass the level, keep up the good work

Uninstalled because of this boss. Not gonna spend hours grinding to kill her.

done it after a lot of tries. it's just a matter of reading Alicia's moveset.

to this day I still had trouble knowing when she'll do the 1 or 2 swings so I could dodge. her teleport attack is way easier to read and I don't need to use dash. after that it's just a DPS race with how lucky I get with my reads.

grinding? no. just jit jud.

and now I ran into another problem: Fallen Elf. she's just as obnoxious as Alicia. her spike attack all screen deals 500! damage. I die way too fast before I even get to understand her moveset. any tips on what monsters to equip? edit: never mind. I did it on 3rd try.

That's strange. I'm playing on normal difficulty, I haven't gotten to this boss yet, but so far every boss I just unload magic and skills with Erza, then when they are broken I bring out the girl with the rocket pound them with the rocket until it's out of ammo switch to the other girl do the same. They usually can't even get out of the corner.

Yea, none of the bosses offer a challenge unless you challenge yourself/limit yourself. Alice is a different story.

Btw.....

no one has answered my question on this topic lol

i mean, if I really wanted the challenge then stage 0 is where its at.

though i have to admit, using the artifact [shadow sword] destroys a huge chunk of break meter. the same skill Alicia uses, but hers is light version while yours is dark/shadow version.

The whip does wonders, it has huge armour-piercing damage. Erza's parry is a great help against Alicia's light sword summon. Nia's fist parry has a lot fewer i-frames. Her sword/shield parry has more i-frames. I got the impression that Erza is the best choice for boss fights because of just how much the whip is shredding armour. Ciara is a mixed bag. She shines against some bosses and performs terribly against others.

Yeah, Nia can literally extend her sword and shield parry by holding it down, which is huge.

I will say- things like shadow sword is great, for just shredding a bosses stagger bar.

Fruits apply to your entire party (Even people not currently present). Just use them, ASAP.

There's some really useful ons that boost crit damage (like 3 or 4 of those) - which is a grand total of 60% extra damage that you can tack onto -anything- you do.
I didn't die to Alicia, but BOY did I come close. I burned through most of my healing items on that fight. The ironic thing, though? I just beat the game, and NONE of the bosses past her gave me as much trouble as she did, not even the Big Bad at the end
Alicia is a difficulty spike in the game but i don't recall her being that bad, Just got to get familiar with her move-set if i recall correctly.

Don't think i had a party die once in this game, though did have individual deaths on the odd occasion in which you can revive if you have the items.

With the myriad of cores you can get, you can make yourself pretty super powered. Also, i did see someone mention about giving fruits to certain characters... it doesn't matter who you give it to. It affects all characters whether they are in your party or not.
