This game has potential and I can't wait to try the finished game but it still needs some fixes and improvements.

*I like that the weapons have skills themselves but it's a shame I don't know what the skills are. There's no explanation. I wish I could know what each of the skills do.

The battling is super buggy for now. I can't attack or roll away when I'm too close with the enemy for some reason. I need to roll a couple of times to make space and then attack them.
*Also I think it'll be nice to get some exp when i finish an enemy because right now there's not enough ways to level up, so when I see that i only get a few coins after defeating an enemy i die a little bit inside.

Also there's too few interactions with the animals. The only things i can do is cure them. Petting is only available for some specific animal characters. The story says animals all like me so I expected maybe some to follow me around or help with fighting etc., but most of them just mind their own businesses lol.

I think more pointers for quests would be helpful. it's too vague for now. Like what is Yranars wine? is it from a place? is it a fruit? where do i get it?!!?

The animal sounds are crazy lol. especially when 2 or more chickens gather. I see 2 chickens and i hear 10 of them. the armor sounds are too loud as well.

Also I don't know what to think about the fact that everything resets when you leave and comeback to the island. It kind of bummed me out at first cuz I felt like I did all this for nothing and I assumed it was gonna get repetitive and boring very soon. but since this is the prologue i learned i needed those reseted herbs and sick animals for the exp lol. I hope for the full game the resets are a bit less frequent.

at first i felt like this was a mod for skyrim/oblivion cuz the scenery, the bandits, and buildings etc. were very similar. but after an hour of gameplay, it made me forget about skyrim.


I'm so sad that this is the prologue and I can't go to so many places when I have so many quests for them. can't wait for the full game. please keep this up guys <33

I really enjoy this game. You get to pet cats, and puppers... I mean that's enough right there. The graphics aren't terrible, if that's a thing you're focused on, and the mechanics of helping the animals is pretty easy to understand. My only real critique is the combat system. It's a bit cumbersome to try and fight the npcs. The main character is incredibly slow, and you'll find sometimes that the npc will get three swings in before you can manage to get the arc of a single swing. The block is... questionable. I haven't managed to get that to work.

Honestly, if the fighting was improved, I wouldn't have any real complaints. It's a game I could sit and play for awhile. Until the combat is fixed, I can't spend more than 10 or 15 minutes before I get frustrated, and generally it has to be Bloodborne difficult for me to get frustrated.

I think it's worth the free prologue, and I absolutely think it would be worth a decent price once it's done. I'd honestly look forward to any other additions to the game.

The Witcher x Cottagecore.
Gently tend animals in need in a rich, living, sunny world. If you like fantasy, you'll like this. If you like animals, you'll like this. My one suggestion would be a character creator like Fallout or Skyrim.

I like the concept, but eesh... The animal models look 10 years old, and their animation is near non-existent. Humans have dead-eye stare, and the hero almost looks cross-eyed. Now, the game-play might have some potential, but after 12 minutes, I was out of things to do as far as I could see. Teeny, tiny starting zone with nothing to do. Also, the loud, endless panting coming from the endlessly-immobile dog was a bit annoying.
Throwing 100 animal species in the full game is meaningless when you guys can't hook me with a quality start.

Animal Rescuer: Prologue is a small version of Animal Rescuer. Overall I enjoyed the game. I still have more to do, however, I'm very optimistic about the upcoming full version. Please see pros and cons below:

Pros:
-Fresh take on "kill this, kill that" within games
-Great music within the game
-Animals are incredibly cute, and I want to keep them all
-Graphics are very good for an unfinished game
-Most importantly, the Devs are very good at communicating, and take criticism very well

Cons
-The fighting mechanics are a little clunky, you can't seem to move when you swing a sword
-You will very unlikely read the potion ingredients (it would be good to see other ingredients, rather than plants!)
-You will want to kill all the cats, they Purr very very loudly

Again, this is based on the Prologue, which is not the full game, so it's difficult to say what the differences will be.

however, this game does have great potential, if the Devs keep up their great communication. If you do enjoy the game, I would suggest looking at their Kickstarter to show support.

I really wanted to like this game, but there is very little about the animals, as it's more about alchemy and collecting plants than anything else. Ok, and combat.

I'm also not at all sure why we needed the intro - there was no chance to develop an actual opinion about or connection with the person whose life you are trying to save, nor any indication that rescuing animals will help. Seems like starting with something like 'you have found the witch who you had been searching for, and she said in exchange for saving your loved one, you would need to become an animal rescuer.' with appropriate bits of plot.

I am genuinely unsure why there is a combat system but it will probably make sense in the full version. Gameplay is not fun: collect resources, craft medicine, and save animals. Menus barely work and quests are confusing. Worth a try for $0.00.

A video game which is about rescuing animals is not even on my list of games I would ever think I would be interested in. However, when this game popped up on my "suggested list" and I saw the graphics of the teaser picture, I took a closer look. On the Store Page, after checking out the video and the other pictures, the graphics sold me. So I downloaded the demo in order to look at some of the fascinating locations I saw in the pictures.

Since it's a demo, there's a few things you should know...
1. You can only explore two islands
2. You can't access the Arena.
3. You can only complete one quest, and that's getting a business contract between a sunflower farmer and a dealer.
4. The number of weapons and the number of animal species are limited.

I've played the demo for 13 hours, reached level 12, and believe I've done everything the demo will allow me to do. I've healed every animal dozens of times, and can kill every bad guy except one (the guy at the top wearing what looks like an orange motorcycle helmet.) Yet I'm torn about this review. This is one of those games where I wish there was a "neutral" or "maybe" choice instead of just "thumbs up" or "thumbs down". So here goes...

1. Yes, the combat can be janky, but I'm okay with it. The combat mechanics really suck when you get cornered, but if you can stay in the open with room to move then you can usually survive. I also really love the slow motion during the kill shot.

2. The game is tagged as an RPG, but I don't agree. In the opening video clip, the narrator says your wife is deathly sick and the doctors can't help her. You've found a witch who can help, but she wants you to rescue animals in return. That's it. Seriously. That's "the story". A one-minute story. As an RPG, that's a fail.

3. As I said at the beginning, I really love the graphics, The two islands you can explore in the demo are just beautiful.

4. The game is also said to be about rescuing animals. To me though, the game is more about running around all over the islands harvesting plants and making medicine out of them, then running around all over the islands (again!!) healing the animals. But the healing part seems to be a side gig, as if it's only there so that you have something to do with the medicine after you've made it.

5. Whenever you leave an area, most everything resets. Kill two bad guys in a building and then leave. Immediately turn around and go back inside. There they are, magically alive!! And although they reset, the treasure chests inside didn't. Leave an island, the animals reset to sick, and the plants reset to fully grown. Leave the game, any custom keyboard shortcuts reset to default.

6. There are hidden treasure chests spread around outside, so you should hop around across boulders to find them. The downside of this is that you often get stuck in a crevice and can't jump out. You have to quit the game, then start it again. Your character's location will then reset to the island's main dock.

7. Speaking of quitting the game... whenever I click to quit, the game crashes rather than shutting down normally.

8. My biggest gripe is the achievements not triggering. Several "Heal [animal name] with a red sign" achievements did not trigger as they should, but I stumbled upon the fact they will trigger if you heal the animal while it's got a yellow sign. Two animals, the doe and the sheep, have not triggered at all while red, and those two are always red when I get to them.
I've read the discussion forums, and this issue has been brought up by players several times, but yet the issue still persists. Only two possible answers here. Either the Devs don't care to fix it, or they purposely rigged it so that you can't get all the achievements that are in the demo. The game has been out for over a year, so there is no excuse for this issue persisting. The fact it does persist neither gives me any confidence the full game will be less buggy, nor gives me any incentive to buy the full game when the demo achievements don't work properly.

In summary, the game does okay with what it does. But it does not do a whole lot, and it does NOT live up to the hype. Thus, I'm going to say this game is not recommended. Point #8 is half of my reason. The other half is because of the extreme repetitiveness. The step-by-step of how to play the game consists of...
1. Go to an island.
2. Harvest plants.
3. Make medicine.
4. Heal animals.
5. Repeat steps #1 through #4 forever.

The game feels very... amateur?

It calls itself an RPG. An RPG requires story, which this game doesn't really have. It presents a bit of a backstory, but it's very emotionless and I wasn't invested in that at all.

The gameplay is very basic. Run around, collect herbs, make potions, heal animals. No challenge. The combat is very basic too.

The names of everything, from potions to swords to places, are clearly done by a random fantasy name generator. They're all super long and impossible to keep track of.

The music is one song. On repeat.

Yeah, it's just boring, sadly. I like the idea. The execution is not there.
