What is up with the obnoxious ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ wind on EVERY ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ mission?
It's annoying enough trying to micro your dumb ass pilots without the win CC locking them and throwing them into the enemy every 5 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ seconds. I wish devs would focus more on making games fun instead of filling them with obnoxious mechanics.

Desert maps (and maybe steppes) have strong winds that will destabilize your mechs. This can be addressed by deploying mechs with higher impact resistance (the wind icon). A mech's wind resistance can be improved by equipping them with the armor plating and evasion improvement modules to improve recovery.

While I wouldn't say that you're wrong for disliking the mechanic, it plays into the value of preparation. If you're attacking a volcano, you're going to need mechs with significantly higher cooling power. Ocean missions require some additional techs and mods to allow mechs to operate at a level approaching normal. Most maps will have some kind of environmental hazard that must be addressed to function normally.

Environmental hazards and enemies provide the challenges that you build your mechs to overcome. That in mind, you need to make do with the weapons and armor you have available at any given time (choosing what to supply in the future), and must often make concessions when designing mechs. That process of weighing tradeoffs and preparing for future encounters is the main draw of the game, at least for me.

The strong gusts manage to completely lock down my movement. Along with completely screwing up the enemy. It's a bit ridiculous with how constant it is. If it let up for a window of time longer, it'd be tolerable.

People keep saying the game is fun because you get to design mechs for each scenario, but to be honest there really arent enough parts to justify this in a way that is fun, and the clunky and obtuse UI makes it a chore. Theres a lot of individual clicking and dragging, and the game doesnt explain what a lot of the stats do or how they relate to the different enemies or hazards in the game. Its not like there are 5 initial frames with 5 different limb attachments per frame that has wildly different effects that are well explained with a simulator you can quickly access and experiment with. Instead, you only start with 1 frame, 2 guns, 1 reactor, 3 mech components, barely any information on what they do or why they would be useful to use. I get that you research more but my bad I guess for starting in Asia cos ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ every mission felt like taking a hammer and chisel to my nuts with how utter obnoxious and frequent the wind was. Its hard enough dealing with figuring out how to beat the aliens, but I was supposed to figure out how to stop the god forsaken WIND from moving a fking 15 foot robot. How tf does the wind even push the mech around?? Its just annoying. And for what? So I can manually move 4 mechs from the pilot screen back to engineering, click and drag components off, then click and drag other ones on FOR EACH MECH then double click the little engineer button for each mech again, go back to the pilot screen and set that up again, then reselect the mission and drag the mechs onto the mission screen and then finally start the mission. All because its a bit windy.

You don't like the mechanic, and that's ok. But the game DOES give you methods to counteract them. And you don't even need to build new frames. The stabilizer module which helps there is unlocked from the start, and your starting mechs have 6 utility slots, which makes them really adaptable. In fact, your baseline mechs are the ones that will carry you through most of your surface missions, esepcially since you later unlock the ability to build them with just 1 engineering slot instead of 5. Have one heat focused squad, one kinda heat resistant mobility squad, and a subnautic squad. Only polluted areas, some special sites, and underground bases / bossmaps will require heavier chasis. Everything else can be done by your walking starter coffins. And tbf, I've cleared boss enconters with nothing but coffins, too. Once you got nuclear reactors and some propper engines, their 2 weapon slots pack all the punches you need.
