I tend to do the following:
I stet the dosing pump to 50 (max) while I start up the reactor as usual with like 96% Rods.
Once the Boron concentration is at around 3000 I set the dosage to 25.
With that I can start pulling the rods out further.
At 3400 set dosage to 10 and pull the rods all the way.
Then Finetune the reactivity with dosage and filter pump (keep the pump at around 5% and dosage at 3 or 2 for maximum precision) You will end up with a concentration somewhere between 3400 and 3500 for a stable reacivity (10)
Summed up: Increase dosage = Less reactivity = colder core
Increase filtering = More reactivty = hotter core
Note: Conentrations of 3500 or more do not yield more absorption and should be avoided.
With a new reactor running only one circuit, 3500 and Rods at 0 might still yield a reactivity >10, so you would need to insert the rods a bit.
If you restart a reactor that has its Boron already in the 3400 ballbark, you can just yank out the rods and focus on getting the turbine rolling.
Hope that helps
I can barely get the reactor up to operating temperature. I was able to keep it running for over a day and then had to do maintenance. After maintenance I can no longer get the reactor under load because it is too cold even though the rods are completely outside. I read somewhere that you should do a cleaning, but I don't know how to do it. The boron concentration is around 3500 and I would like to lower it.
If it has lost efficency, you need to do clean the Boron filtering column. But it can run quite a while before that is needed
I can rise boron, but not lower it.
Check your cleaning efficency gauge on the bottom right. If its not in the green you need to start the Ion colum cleaning process
boric acid cocentration: 3242
in the chemical room there is upstairs a large high green thing (boron filter ?).
from there comes water out and i think it's broken. no repair options.
I started a new game as a test and went straight to the chemical room. The boron filter is black instead of green and no water comes out of it. In the fuse boxes there I had set two switches to off and closed the two valves to the boron filter. Every time I load my save, the boron filter is okay for a few seconds (black) and then suddenly broken (green and water comes out).
And the two safety switches are switched on again every time and the two valves are open again. Apparently there are errors when saving or loading the game.
Do you still know how long you'll be working on it? I'm actually waiting for the changes to become a little less. Because there is always so much new coming in, I wait all the time. I might think about a roadmap. Always well received by buyers.
Don't know if it's in there now. But an option to delete saves in the menu would also be nice.
As I mentioned at the end, it is a bug in the game. I had done a complete service and had everything on the list repaired. The boron filter system doesn't even appear on the list. I don't know how or whether this can be repaired manually.
Switches and valves may not change when a game is loaded or saved. Also for security reasons.
I think that is where the bug lies, the column is damaged and does not appear on the list to be repaired. I'm already analyzing it. If that's it, I'll upload a fix shortly.
The chemistry module was the last major update to the main game. Now there will be more or less minor improvements, at least nothing that changes the way you play. The big additions will be DLCs.
