TL:DR, Extremely short, and has a color blindness problem with a specific puzzle.

It's alright, worth the $1.74 I paid for on sale, but it's obscurely short. A total of an hour, but I'd say it's more like half an hour since I got stuck on a specific puzzle that isn't hard, but completely unfair to me. The mining puzzle where you have to quickly pick specifically colored rocks, while on a short timer, is rough for someone who is colorblind. I had to screen share and have my friend direct me to which rocks were specific colors. Doesn't help that when you fail the puzzle, you have to sit through half a minute/ a full minute of waiting till you can try again depending if you "open" a book. I would have never completed this puzzle otherwise since there is no consistent, distinct difference in the rocks to differentiate them from one another other than color. It's one very huge flaw for colorblindness, with no work around in game. Art is good, music not memorable but it does its job. Story is... there? I kind of got it but it felt so weirdly paced I wasn't sure what the point was. This game isn't worth $7 dollars, way too short, but if you are curious you can grab it on sale and try it out.

Starting neat but got lame towards the end. Paid less then $2 so it wasn't too horrible.

i started to enjoy this game for last 3 chapters when some interactions outside of mindless clicking were presented and suddenly it was over. too short to recommend this, especially in full price. I had similar problem with florence from annapurna, very well percieved game by many but for me it was non involving joke. Fate of Kai should be at least twice as long with more "complex" puzzles/decison tree during whole game (perfect would be different endings depending on decisions) and probably i would recommend it then. non the less i contributed $ by buiyng this game and hopefully next title will fll those gaps.

This is barely a game.

F Chapter 5

Rubbish. There's only one way through, unlike the old paperback games where you get twists and turns with multiple ways to a successful end. Beautiful comics, but sadly, not challenging.

It just took me 48 minutes to beat the game, and I was stopping at every page to admire the art. The art was pretty cool, and the music was alright. After playing through the game, I can't help but think that this is just a small experimental game to test out a new concept for a puzzle game. The game mechanic is very unique, but I feel like it wasn't used to its full potential. It reminded me of the game "The Pedestrian", but with a lot less content. I was most engaged at the start of the game when I was learning the mechanics of the game, but the game kinda falls off as time goes on. Although the achievements encourage you to play through it a second time, the game itself does not seem replayable. I got this game when it was 50% off, and to be honest, the ~50 minutes of gameplay is not worth the 7.99 CAD.

I was enjoying myself until chapter 5 -- eff chapter 5! All my progress came to a screeching halt in that forest. And my enjoyment went out the window. As I Googled a solution, I came to another realization: this thing is only 7 chapters long? So what... about 1 hour of gameplay, maybe 2? No bueno!

Pros:
Cool art style
Interesting enough story (not "unique" though)
Cheap (I got it on sale for €3.41)

Cons:
Way, way, way too short
Chapter 5 is annoying
Chapter 6 is super boring

Nitpicking the official description:
"Fate of kai is a unique and innovative experience in the puzzle genre" -- Very similar to FRAMED though, innit?
"which visually tell a unique story" -- Is it though? Some dude realizing a soul-crushing job ain't for him. Did y'all see American Beauty for example? Or Fight Club? Or CCTV footage from my workplace a month from now?
"The game was carefully designed with elegance" -- Sounds like marketing BS written by someone who isn't an English native speaker. Art style is cool though, no complaints there!
"each puzzle will prepare you for the next challenges" -- Except chapter 5. I cannot express how much I hate chapter 5.
"that await you in this incredible adventure" -- By "incredible" they actually mean "hour-long." Maybe more if you have to figure out chapter 5.
