Proton Audio issues
Hello.

I'm using Fedora 41 with GNOME 47. I've Installed AoD using Proton Hotfix and it works, but no sound is available. Pipewire is beeing used by default.

I've installed 3 games for the moment. One worked smoothly, the other two have audio issues (AoD is one of these). Reading various forum posts, it seems to me that 32bit games have issues. So I tried to understand if a 32bit library was necessary but I didn't found a 32bit package to install on Fedora.
Then I found a Reddit post in which a user suggested to remove everything that was present in a "path" related to the Wine audio driver of the Wine registry (using WineTricks regedit, for our understanding) so that they could be "filled" again with the right ones. I did it and it worked, however I need to restart a few times the pipewire systemd service and related apps, but then it definetly works.

I tried the same with AoD using ProtonTricks (to acchieve the same result) and it doesn't work unfortunately. Using Wine configuration, I tested the audio and it works. However, no audio when I open the game, even if I restart the systemd pipewire service.

I'm running out of ideas. I hope there is someone that can help me understand what's going on and resolve this issue.

P.S. I've also found this other Reddit comment for splitting your interface into multiple stereo sinks like this [gitlab.freedesktop.org]. I give it a try, but nothing changed. I'm still using this pipewire configuration for the moment.

Thank you.

After a OS restart, I was able to make the audio works restarting the systemd pipewire service a few times when AoD is running like I do for the other game too.

I can play the survive mode with no problem, but when I start the campaign the audio issue comes back and it seems the cutscene or something similar doesn't start because I still can see only the "map view" and the subtitles of the dialogue. Once the dialogue ends, nothing happens and the games get stuck on the campaign map view.

This is the campaign map view I'm referring to:

Can someone help me? Thank you.

Hi.
I am using Fedora 42 (and prior 41). I haven't encountered any audio issues.
Probably there is some faulty setting somewhere, or sink is not set up correctly.
In Volume Control, under tab Playback, you should see your sink statuses - where the output is being sinked.

Regarding the video playback issue, this is a common issue, videos are not being played in-game for some reason, but they can be played with external video player like VLC, if you search inside game folder.
They used to work in the past, not sure whether the root cause is engine or OS.

AFAIK this is a major issue, since you cannot start a fresh campaign, if you have no previous saves.
But you can replay any mission by selecting them, and finish the campaign that way. You just cant restart a campaign with a new save or see cutscenes.
