Is each player their own buildings and money and resources?
Do players share buildings money and resources?

How does it work?

Also for Coop campaign does each player have their own heroes?
Or does only main player have heroes and other players only have units?

In Skrimish? Do each player have their own heroes?

So a general breakdown is that Co-op works like this:

Each player gets their own Hero, buildings, units and keep. However, you are able to trade resources with the Bazaar.

You are working as a team to fend off the the waves of enemies. If one of your keeps fall, you both lose.

There are 3 Death Nights, instead of 5, with DN 2 and 3 having two crystals, instead of 1. Making the gameplay quite a bit quicker than in single player.

The co-op is also just for survival, not the campaign as well.

Lets say there should be more coop modes, because this game is pretty unique with its coop function and thus a lot of people will likely end up playing it for that mode, not just because its a good game but more so because theres no alternatives.

Wonderful, now the game lasts half as long and we get half the time to economy up. And now we have to share the limited resources in this faster paced game. Very disappointing to hear there not being options to choose the length of how many Death Nights.

The co-op is also just for survival, not the campaign as well.

That's likely for the best. The campaign doesn't have any kind of repeatability to it with no difficulty settings.

Coop seemed way too short and I'm not sure if it's the map size or what but I only got metal at the very end (found 2 deposits altogether), and had like 1 blood gem. Took me days to get the first stone quarry! Barely played coop but so far each attempts were like this, the match ending just when I've started using mid level stuff and don't even think about higher tier things or upgrades!

Thats pretty dramatic and rather your skill.
I agree that Coop could be longer, but more due to fun, less due to balance.
Friend and i have no problem setting up iron before the first death night hits after only 2 days on Horrific Difficulty.
We arent great at the game, but it sounds like you didnt expand enough.

I typically wall off on chokepoints.

Tower with walls around is only blocking a few enemies, as the rest just swarms around it. Thats ok for an Outpost if you can afford that.

Expanding is easy with the starting troops you have. Clean an area and then wall it off at a chokepoint.
