Pixel noise on ground textures
I couldn't find anything else about this so I may be the only one seeing this but I've noticed what looks like dithering (pixel noise) on some of the muddy ground textures and was wondering if this is by design or some kind of a bug.
It seems particularly noticeable around the edges of settlement buildings, where they overlap with the normal ground textures. So I'm guessing it's a design choice to try and make the overlap more seamless?
I realise it is not a huge issue, I'm just easily distracted by these kinds of things and wanted to know if it should be that way or not.
Thanks!

Hey Mikamokalatte,

We're sorry to hear you're having this issue.

Could you please share with us a screenshot of what you're referring to so we can see what this is?

To take a screenshot, please make sure, that you have Steam Overlay enabled in your game
  1. Go to Steam -> Settings.
  2. Click the In-Game tab.
  3. Check "Enable Steam Overlay while in-game"
  4. Go to Library.
  5. Right-click on the game title and select Properties.
  6. Under the General tab also make sure "Enable Steam Overlay while in-game" is checked.
In the game, press F12 to take a screenshot. Then press Shift+Tab to bring up the Steam overlay, and Upload your screenshot, make it public. Then simply include the URL of your screenshot on the forum (it should look something like "http...sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=...")

Get back to us when you can.

Hi!
Thank you for getting back to me.

Here is a link to a screenshot I took:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3136040308

The issue shows up more in motion but if you focus around the center of the image and look at the edges of the grass and muddy farm textures, then you can see it looks rather pixelated in these areas. And it seems to occur all over the map.

I realise it is not the biggest issue but it still serves as a distraction for me. Given the camera is being moved around all the time it can create a sort of shimmering effect once it is noticed because those little pixels you can see around the edges of the textures will move as the camera moves. I very much would like to play more of the game but these sort of visual artifacts in games really distract me at times.

I have already tried messing with all of the settings to try and alleviate/minimise the issue but I haven't found anything. If I did miss something then do please let me know.

Thank you!

Hey

You're very welcome!

It looks like your graphics drivers are currently out of date, could you please download and install the latest drivers for your RTX 3070 card?

To do this please go to the Nvidia webpage via the below link and follow the instructions.

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately after updating my drivers it's still the same.
Is it just that that slight pixelated look is how it is supposed to look? It seems to be a byproduct from a method for overlaying ground textures on top of one another given where it occurs (around the outskirts of settlement improvements, around grasssy areas).
So it may just be how it is supposed to look?
Can you confirm?

I have the same problem and this noise is not only on the ground, but also on the characters’ armor in cutscenes. I tried different graphics settings from the lowest to the highest and unfortunately the noise remained. I will attach screenshots from another person with the same problem.

Yeah that looks much more severe than it has been for me. Maybe because it is a darker scene it exacerbates the issue?
Either way, it appears this is just some consequence of a rendering technique the development team use I imagine.
Here's hoping it can be minimised/'fixed' at some point though!

Dear Devs!

I've encountered the exact same issue as Mikamokalatte and Noa. I've taken some screenshots, from campaign maps and cutscenes and in survival mode too. These kind of raster overlay issues is present in each of them.

pixel noise in campaign: https://steamcommunity.com/id/gegszi/screenshot/2514767191143710864/

pixel noise in campaign zoomed out: https://steamcommunity.com/id/gegszi/screenshot/2514767191143712560/

pixel noise in cutscene: https://steamcommunity.com/id/gegszi/screenshot/2514767191143708184/

pixel noise in survival map: https://steamcommunity.com/id/gegszi/screenshot/2514767191143706222/

My Nvidia drivers are already up to date, as of 15th of February. The screenshots were taken afterwards.

Also here is my dxdiag data: https://pastebin.com/LbYchq6h

Thank you for attending this matter!

Best Regards!
