It Takes Two Stuck at loading & No License Issue

Me and a friend started playing a few months ago and got an endless loading screen finishing the 'The shed wired up'. No way around it, tried a few things (changing priority to real time, restarting and stuff). Left it alone for a while and now with a second go, we cannot get the friends pass to join, my friend gets the 'no license' error when trying to join the online of local game. Please help, we would really like to play this game. Any tips?
