Download the EA app on your PC and then transfer the file onto your deck. The easiest way to do this, is to open up the desktop mode on steam deck and use Winpinator (you'll have to download it first through the discover app or whatever it is). Then download that onto your PC as well. Then just transfer the file over.
After that, while still in desktop mode on the steam deck, open up steam, and add a non-steam game to your Steam collection. Add the EA app to it. Click on compatibility mode and switch it to proton.
Then you should be able to install it. The tricky part is, after you install it, it will ask you to log in, but of course, on the EA app, the keyboard functionality doesn't work with the steam deck. Luckily if you scroll down you can just click login through steam. It will redirect you to Firefox, and the Steam login screen. You can log in through there. After it's all done and it says you can close the page. Restart the deck.
Go to it takes two (or presumably any other EA game) and go to compatibility. Change it to proton 6.3-8.
After that it should go. It might take a couple of tries, but it will eventually work. I've noticed if you have the dock, for whatever reason it won't launch if it's plugged into the dock, so just launch it, and then after it boots up you can plug it into the dock.
Hope that helps.
1. Deleting proton files via Developer --> Delete Proton Files
2. Verifying Integrity of Files: https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/0C48-FCBD-DA71-93EB
3. Booting it up undocked in handheld mode the first time
I didn't need to force it to proton 6.3-8 with this approach
Can you please explain what should i delete and maybe a few steps? :P
On the steam deck when you select the game, look to the right side and click on the gear icon to manage settings. Then click on developer and delete the proton files
Update: after I linked my EA account with my steam account(by sign up a new EA account using steam account) I am able to open the game and pass login screen.
