ive found my wife enjoys casual games like solitaire, or match 3 with neat themes...
not the typical hidden object. though those are really popular with the ladies ;)
or your bottom of the discount bin dime a dozen clones of good games...
but its all relevant to compromising your game play preferences to hers so you can spend time playing something together.
i dont really enjoy bubble poppers or match 3 games, i do enjoy a good solid solitaire game...
pinball is another one we will play sometimes, there is also audiosurf... set up for casual runs and using music from her playlist... but i can try to ignore the glaring things these casual games contain... themes, translation errors, little bugs or glitches. because in the end, we have fun playing together... more then what game we are playing, we do enjoy "game dates"
have a couple of drinks... rag on each other when we make mistakes...
i have tried to get the wife to drive or fly, even explore and shoot and loot... its not the controller as much as the genres... we also have multiple nintendos for family games and as a family we have some competitive matches lol...
but then again... playing board games we do sometimes as well... i guess its more about the casual time spent together... then beating a game or getting high score or reaching the next goal etc...
interesting topic. mixed in with the typical stuff... im not leaning towards buying this game for co op with my wife... not after reading about multiple levels with areas that are more gamer than casual. but i thought id leave my opinion on this subject... at least.
Maybe try something abit less hands-on like an RTS or something with easier controls. You know how normies react when they hear w,a,s,d and mouse lol
I wish you both all the best and hope you find something you can both enjoy!
My suggestion: DON'T introduce her with a game like this (in fact, this is probably the worst type of game you could start with!) or even try a game like this right now. Start with more casual games like Pode or even Overcooked. I'd highly suggest Pode, though. You just have to start small and find games that form a middle ground if you're more of a hardcore gamer. Now, my husband will sometimes go off and play more hardcore games, and I'll play more casual, and then we'll come together and have some games we enjoy together. It's totally doable, I can attest to it!
You're still new to games then because this IS a casual game. This is a perfect to introduce a partner who hasn't played games to, nothing requires you to have played hundreds of other games to understand and the mechanics are all super simple. It's not competitive at all so there's lots of room to have fun and mess around.
Idk what kinda games your dude has you playing but if you consider this a "worst type of game" you gotta play more games
