They updated the models, but everything else looks still the old.
They didn't upgrade it to the Gal Gun 2 / VR quality.
Oh, no wonder I didn't understand the mix of "remake" and "new game" among the comments, it "IS" a remake, but "NEW" to the western.
Thanks for the clarification.
or is a new game with a new story?
do i see that right?
I'm confused because I'm thinking of buying it but I already have Double Peace and part 2.
I actually thought Double Peace was part 1
Gal Gun XB360 is the original.
Gal Gun PS3 is a port of that release. However it is not identical in content and has Move support.
These two releases were Japan only.
Gal Gun Returns is a remake of Gal Gun. It is not identical to either the XB360 or PS3 versions, and features multi language support for the first time.
Gal Gun Double Peace is set after Gal Gun and features new characters. It was the first game to be available with English support after the Japanese release.
Gal Gun Double Peace Bi-lin-gal is a Japan only release of Gal Gun Double Peace (the difference being the publisher and the addition of English language support). This version is sold on consoles and on PC via DMM -- it differs to the Steam release by having a few additional costumes not available outside Japan. it replaces the original Japan only version of Gal Gun Double Peace which could no longer be sold.
Gal Gun 2 is set after Double Peace and features a completely new cast of main characters.
Gal Gun VR is basically a technical demo which eventually was re-released as part of Gal Gun 2 (via the VR DLC).
And finally: Boy Gun was once proposed as an alternative version where you give Euphoria to boys. But sadly, has never left that initial idea phase, despite many of IntiCreate's female staff liking the idea.
I know. This was at the point where Sony first started their aggressive crack down on Japanese developers (and only Japanese developers). At least Gal Gun 2 remained playable in its forced pancake mode. Happy Manager did not fair so well. But that doesn't change the fact that GG VR is a technical demo.
they would have to create new models xD
All games use the same models and just add/replace the heroines. Maybe up their textures a bit, but they are all the same
Forgot the spin off titles in the list though.. like gun gun pixies which features the same two fairies
Gun Gun Pixies is a Compile Heart/Idea Factory title. It is not related to Gal Gun in any shape or form.
It's also a game I would have loved to play on PC. But, unfortunately, we cannot purchase the PC version in Japan.
The confusion is because I'm not referring to the demo you are talking about. GGVR is also a technical demo, it is not a complete game. The difference being that GGVR was released commercially to the public. The other, was for inhouse and promotional use.
GGVR was most certainly released for sale to gauge market interest. Which would help IntiCreates decide if it was worth the resources to fix up the code and add it back to GG2 when it could only be done on a single platform.
The key point is to remember that IntiCreates is a Japanese company with an initial focus on the Japanese market. Adoption of VR headsets back during GG2 development and release (especially those for PC) was significantly lower than other regions. Partly due to prohibitive import costs and partly due to scalpers hoarding the PS VR stock.
With Sony refusing a PS VR release, their biggest potential Japanese market was denied to them. If the GG VR release had not done well, there would be no working VR support in Gal Gun 2, it would have remained disabled due to not being financially viable for the small studio.
Fair however:
While they are by different developers, they share the same publisher and the pixies of gun gun pixies ARE the love angels of gal gun return/the original
thats enough to count as spin off - even though they are more like agents in there
