How do I get talent points?

Am I supposed to make it to a certain point before I can use the skill tree? As it stands now this game is not respectful of players time. Im hours into the game, but still have the stats of someone who has never played. NOT GOOD

Talent Points are the Blue Currency. There's a push and pull of getting Purple Items for special builds or saving that for Meta progression.

I agree this needs better tutorializing, especially since the current Talent Tree is controller unfriendly.

Ok, thanks. I pressed all the buttons on the controller, and nothing happened. Now that I use the keyboard I can use the skill tree. Thanks!
