Storyline progression?

So I've completed the intro sequence (shot the targets, got in the car, shot the man, got the phone - now i can collect weapons throughout the world etc).

Where do I need to go in order to progress the story? Do I need to buy that property for £3000? Or is there another marker to find to trigger another mission?
