A lot of Chinese accounts with low playtime on the game have started review-bombing the Blue Reflection games because of the recent announcement (12th November I believe) that Blue Reflection Sun (upcoming mobile game with DMM) will feature a male protagonist - something that departs from the "yuri" and "girls-only" that the series has thus far been built upon and that fans of the genre expect.
You can see this for yourself if you filter the recent reviews to negative and exclude the "Your Languages Only" filter and take a look at the posts through translate or whatever.
When they anounced the Gacha game they decided to add a generic self insert protagonist (those are the word of the game's director) because they want more to make their place on the mobile gacha market than make a good Blue Reflection game.
After the anouncement the fanbase was pissed off, obviously as this fanchise is based on Yuri relationship (who is the idiot that throught it would please anyone to have a generic dude to fap on a harem?), the game's director anounced that they would'nt change it because having a male protagonist would make it possible for the player to self insert himself with the girl and have relationship with them.
Basicaly, they literaly told the fanbase, that made this mobile gacha even possible, that they didn't care about them and all they wanted was to cash grab with a generic harem mc in a mobile gacha game...
What's really sad is that some depressed people are skinned alive by this stuff. You combine worst of gambling or oppressively grinding and asking for "exto... subscription fee" to reduce the pain, and exploitation of someone's poor mental state in one package just to make some money.
That said, there's nothing wrong with the mainline games or even anime itself. Not really a reason to down-vote them.
What a way to kill a franchise. It's really sad to see the Yuri aspect crash and burn to ash, all for the God Of Cash...
A fan asked in Kishida mel twitter, “is this the direction bluereflection is heading to?”
And he says yes.
Idk bro can’t have sh1t in this era. I guess they all agreed in the meeting that they want to eliminate girly game image by making it straight instead of yuri and going this way, ip will sell to larger harem fanbase and survive.
I’ve been playing gacha games since kid and now is a working adult. Never once think gacha game is a mistake like this before.
I can’t look at this game and feel happy like before anymore damn.
Thats so dumb they even had the easy way out of letting chose your gender like Atelier online, it really makes you question the direction of GUST, was considering getting second light on sale I'm not even sure now.
