Deadlock

Deadlock

Deadlock still crashing. Looking for help
I've played Deadlock for about 600 hours on high graphics settings with almost no issues. However, since February 26th, after updating to the latest version, the game refuses to start and crashes immediately on the loading screen. The issue still hasn't been resolved as of March 3.

When I launch the game, I briefly see "Deadlock Network Offline" and "Loading" for about half a second before the game closes itself. There are no .mdmp crash logs in the Deadlock directory, and I haven’t modified any game files.

What I've Tried to Fix the Issue:
  • Restarted my PC
  • Restarted Steam
  • Completely reinstalled the game (deleted the game folder, including config files, from the Steam directory)
  • Tested different launch options: -vulkan, -dx11, -dx12
  • Manually modified boot.vcfg and video.txt with different parameters
  • Updated all drivers on my PC (not just GPU drivers)
  • Checked file integrity via Steam
  • Disabled background apps and overlays (Discord, Steam)
  • Ran the game as an administrator and in compatibility mode

System Specs:
  • OS: Windows 11 Pro (Build 22631)
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 (Laptop)
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600H
  • SSD: SK Hynix HFS001TDE9X084N

Additional Notes:
I've already spent around 6 hours searching for a solution but still haven't found a fix. I really hope for some help since I have no one else to turn to. I love Deadlock and just want to play it again.

If you need any more information, please let me know and I’ll provide everything I can. Also, I'm offering $10 in skins to anyone who helps me fix this.

Crash logs will be in the windows event viewer. I'll put my money on a 0xc0000000005 crash
In the windows crash logs after deadlock crash i found only error related to xbox gaming service. Could this affect?
Save a text file as a .reg, so that it turns into a registry edit file

Put this inside

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\xbgm] "Start"=dword:00000004 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\GameDVR] "AppCaptureEnabled"=dword:00000000 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\System\GameConfigStore] "GameDVR_Enabled"=dword:00000000 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\GameDVR] "AllowGameDVR"=dword:00000000 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\PolicyManager\default\ApplicationManagement\AllowGameDVR] "value"=dword:00000000

Save, then double click and allow it to make changes. This will disable all the xbox crap as well as the game bar windows crap which can notoriously cause problems in games
So I checked the error code from the issues I encountered when launching Deadlock, and you were right. However, the error code was "0xc0000005" instead of "0xc0000000005". But I think you meant this one. I modified the registry, and the error disappeared, but Deadlock still doesn't launch. You seem like a knowledgeable person, can you add me in steam? I have TeamViewer/AnyDesk installed, which would make it much more convenient if you want to help me

Still looking for help
Yes I was referring to 0xc0000005. It's a very generic memory allocation issue that can sadly have hundreds of of causes. For many recent games, it comes as a problem with their anticheat implementation.

I would start with making sure that other anti-cheat clients are not running when you play (easy anticheat, battle eye etc). Check your msconfig services to see which of these may be running on start up, stop their services and then try again.

Since you see the deadlock loading screen for a few seconds before the crash, it could also mean that your game is having a hard time compiling the new shaders. Try setting your nvidia shader cache to unlimited, and clear the shader cache folder for fresh compilations.
Hi, I'm pretty sure that at the moment of the deadlock crash, other anti-cheats like Easy Anti-Cheat or BattlEye are not running. There are also no issues in the MSInfo log after the crash. I deleted the shader cache folder, set NVIDIA shader cache to unlimited, and tried different options like -dx11, -dx12, and -vulkan, but it didn't help. I'm still asking you to add me as a friend, it will be easier to communicate, and maybe you’ll be able to help me.

Have you tried putting your laptop into to a bag of rice ?
One possible solution for those who encounter the same issue. It should be used together:
Launch parameter: -dx11
Windows power setting: Power saver mode

It didn't help me

Have you checked if your graphics driver has an update?
Yes, as I mentioned in my post, I updated ALL the drivers on my PC, including the graphics, BIOS, Wi-Fi, and even the sound lol
Have you tried again more recently to see if maybe it was a problem with that driver version that they patched? Could also try booting the game in admin mode or try running it in compatibility mode and try a different windows version than 11. Because you should definitely be able to run this fine I have basically older parts but on a desktop as you and it runs fine but I am on windows 10.

I have done basically all the method that he mention and nothing worked for me since the 2/25 patch as well. Also waiting for method _>_
Are you using a third party Antivirus program instead of the default Windows Defender?
