Deadlock

Deadlock

Why the game is dying and why it might never come back
The game is dying for multiple reasons in my opinion

1. The developers are taking way too long to provide any content (no new characters), probably because it's valve, ton of money, ton of time, no need to hurry, might be their thought process?
2. The same characters are played every single game (especially high elo)
3. Balancing overall isn't great (in both items and characters) [99% of the time, you build the exact same items in the exact same order on each individual character]
4. Not enough players for ranked-only mode, which makes deadlock a difficult game that requires a ton of time to get better at, so the 'casual' players won't enjoy it as much as a simpler game like ow2/marvel for example. But then the 'sweats' won't really enjoy it as much as league or dota or fortnite even, because the competition is a joke really in comparison.
5. You can't really pick solo/duo lane? How much time has it been?? Perhaps this is also due to lack of players or maybe it's their decision, but it's just not very smart.

I've got other arguments as well, but this has taken too much time for me to write anyway so i cba.
Overall my takes are very biased, but I still want to share them.

Now before you go ahead and say 'it's in early access idiot', listen up.
You try some new food, you don't like it the first time, max you give it another chance and thats it, you won't have a good memory and you wouldn't want to try it again.

People will give this game a try again, when it gets released and if they don't like it, that will be it for the game, it's genre and gameplay is very specific and requires a lot of skill and what I mean by that is, it not only requires mechanics (shooting precisely, positioning), but it also requires a lot of macro (where u should be at the map at what time, when u should farm etc..)

Why am i making this post now? Well I'm aware that the game will be released somewhat soon and I see no real progress, from 2 months ago.

Who am I? Well I'm a player that started to play the game casually with my friends (had a ton of fun), then they quit, I continued playing, became one of the best players in europe, won a bunch of money from faceit and decided to quit, until release.

after checking the FACEIT hub, you're not on there. after checking tracklock, you're 1.6 KDA obscurus and have fed in most if not all of your recent games.

and now for the best part, #5: you can pick your lanes with any coordinated team, and in private games such as FACEIT. which you've never been apart of for deadlock.

hope this helps!

:EDIT: also upon further inspection you have game bans! opinion 100% discarded.

He isn't wrong tho, the hero pool is really poorly balanced hoping this changes later on.

They need to fix the atrocious balance related changes they introduced just after they merged the separate queues. Prior I felt the game was overall honestly fine in terms of balance. I didn't get too angry about any particular character, afterwards it's just an influx of "press 4 to kill multiple people" or "press 4 to not die" ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. I also love that some ults like Wraith's were changed for basically no reason.

The actual reason is because it is an invite-only playtest and most gamers are casuals who need something more than raw gameplay to sustain their interest. Player decline has been extremely steady, before Marvel Rivals, before ranked being removed, before any hero balancing you took objection to. Prior to the game being opened up to the casual masses, it had a consistent playerbase in the low thousands made up of people who were dedicated to playing and improving it. What you're seeing is just a reversion to that state. You guys can call the game dead if it makes you feel better about your loss streaks but the reality is that the game is still a fair way off release and the developers know that. They are updating the game at their own pace, based on their internal roadmap and no amount of crying is going to change that.

cope
deadlock made an horrible first impression from which it will probably never recover and even if you are content with the game potentially staying for only a handful of chosen elites that can truly appreaciate its fine gameplay, there is no way valve will feel the same

games that dont generate money get canned and rn doesnt look like deadlock is going to make a bank

Wrong.
The biggest thing that you are wrong about is 'the reality is that the game is still a fair way off release', you're clueless, you're nobody, you know nothing.

I clearly want to be anonymous about who I am, so I haven't posted this on my main account, so sit down, lil bro. My claims about picking lane is entirely about ranked.
opAw←G Dec 24, 2024 @ 3:50pm
The devs nerf even the underperforming champs and doesn't even do anything about OP ones. I think this game will become like Dota Underlords, soon to be abandoned by volvo and move on.

If you are posting not on your main, then your opinion meaningless. Real people use their main account. I've been following/watching streamers. The game looks pathetic. I know it's hard to balance a moba and even more so an FPS MOBA but if you are building the same items and they are nerfing everyone in general including under performing heroes. Most people won't play or keep playing. MOBA needs a dedicated fan base and ways to make money or else it'll be DOA before it's released... or it'll be released then suffer TF2 fate.

If you are taunting people about their lose streak, remember, most MOBAs suffer the "pro syndrome". By that I mean they balance the game around high end rank/esports and then wonder why the masses are upset over it. This is including AP Yi from LoL and many changes to DOTA2 because the "pros" find it unfair because they can't beat it. Keep the ego at the door.
Marvel Rivals gonna put the final nail in the coffin. Deadlock is dead.

this is a perfect summerization, i dont play for 2 weeks, comeback and the balance is like how it was when the alpha first went public, so annoying to have a haze in every match, they have great systems setup for counter play that many others similar games dont have they need to focus on those two aspects otherwise more players will continue to bleed off before its just sweats and then the matchmaking will really perform poorly
