Game needs MORE skillshots LESS hitscans
As the Title states, this game has way to many lock on abilities (stuns,Slows,Disarms, ETC). As well as a handful of characters that have AOE attacks that dish out damage at too far of range. The game also suffers from AOE abilities that damage people through walls, bottoms of bridges, and sometimes entirely around corners.

Don't get me wrong I'm a huge fan of this game thats basically the only reason Im even writing this in the first place. The game is highly competitive, fun, and has a nice aesthetic to it. Im sure we all agree its pretty damn charming.

I just wish to see more skill involved when it comes to games like these. The game to some degree has more cheese than OverWatch does (which Im sure is a spicy take). Its not bad enough where I dont want to play the game Its just sometimes kinda meh.

Some of the '4' Abilities that AOE need to have longer cooldowns (even with items) and the range of the attack.

- Seven's 'Storm Cloud' Range is absolutely broken right now, paired with the amount of life steal you can get and the bullet resist mod on it.. My best counter I can think of is Grey Talons 'Guided Owl'

- Haze's 'Bullet Dance' needs some work as well. If she has a chance to dodge attacks I dont think she should move.. But on the other hand if she cant dodge attacks I think she should move slightly more than she does.

- Kelvin's Arctic Beam Slow Stacks are VICIOUS and could probably use a tune

- The Fact Seven's 'Static Charge' hurts enemies teammates even through or around buildings is a complete joke. NO ABILITY SHOULD GO THROUGH WALLS

- Wraith's 'Telekinesis' ability has no reason to be a hitscan ability. You should have to aim that projectile like a real gamer.

.... TLDR somethings need work but I really like the game... more than I thought I would tbh.

this is not a third person class shooter, it's a moba. so nothing of the first part of the post makes sense or will ever happen, i'm sorry but if you don't like hitscan weapons and stuns this game isn't for you.

we can also tell this is the first moba you ever played because you called for the nerf of abilities that have direct counters through items.

sevens 4 only kills never players because you can press a single button with knockdown and cancel the ult, on top of any stun canceling the ult and it being line of sight damage only makes it an actually ♥♥♥♥♥♥ ability you should never use unless noob stomping

kelvin and any other slow are basically negated by the green speed items that are meta and part of every build currently no matter the character+you can build debuff reduction on top of those speed items

you are invincible to haze 4 by just pressing a button with metal skin. she is really squishy and can't dodge anything so you can just kill her in half a second after becoming invincible. do NOT use the ability that send bullets back at the attacker, she has innate dodge on her 4 and with lifesteal she outheals the automatic damage she takes from that ability.

and also this is an alpha and basically EVERYTHING will be changed, not only balancing and gameplay wise, before it actually releases
me when:

when the:

umm uhh uhh uhhh:

when the uhh shop uhh:

umm:

when the counterplay exists as items and being a generally more skilled player:

high mmr haze is really weak, the moment she gets enough damage to make solo kills everyone will get metal skin and hardcounter her, also imagine you have to spend 6300 souls just to get her ult not to be cancelled, basically its 5v6 match midgame and weak 6th player lategame when you have haze in team

I agree but also the skillshots that exist need to be polished and made more satisfying. Namely the blitzcrank hook.

Not sure if troll post or OP is serious ..

@dwane dibbley
Im completely serious. The game is 60-70% cheese abilities you don't aim you just farm NPC's for souls to make them strong and they just melt people. Is it really a problem there should be more skill involved in games like these?

You make good points. And to be fair I don't play mobas mostly cause of what "mobas are supposed to be"

Maybe my opinion will change more with ranked but when it comes to immersion, fun, and skill I think aiming and shooting ♥♥♥♥ is cooler than a red box making it impossible to miss. I Dont have a problem with stuns. I have a problem with stuns and aoes that hit people around/through walls or buildings. People always defend the cheese its been like that for the last 15 years of gaming. Seems like a lot of you are soft and prefer easy games

A lot of the skill-expression in this game is going to come from knowledge-checks. Being in the right place at the right time, forcing your opponents to burn their spells before big fights, having the right items for the right heroes, etc.

Seven's ult seems crazy until you learn that you can avoid its damage by breaking the line of sight between you and the ulting Seven, for example. All sorts of things are like that in Deadlock, I think it's really cool.

The game is only kind of about "aiming and shooting," it has so much more going for it.

Yea, I appreciate its depth. Its really fun to learn for sure. I still have a long ways to go. There are just things that rub me the wrong way, for instance shiv just dashing forward and slashing someone to death in 2 hits haha its almost unavoidable unless he's detected on the map further up the lane. I guess thats what makes him an assassin type of character but it seems like you understand my issues.

I still need to find what items to op out of facing certain characters it seems and which ones to op-in too so I can counter character types

Honestly? Just keep playing. The more you watch your map the better you'll develop a feel for where enemies are on the map. Only see 3 or 4 and Shiv is missing? The last time you saw Shiv was a few moments ago when he went back to base? And you're pushed across his half of the map? It's pretty likely he's on his way to you and that's a signal for you to move away. Or a signal for you to pair up with someone else so he has to fight 2v1.

You really have so many options at any moment, that's what so hard about the game.

A lot of people complain about Abrams, but if you time your parries well and get items like Healbane then you can deal with him better than you'd otherwise be able.

The game isn't easy, you just play a bunch of it and try different things to find what works and eventually figure it out. If it's any consolation, I'm sure Valve will add more heroes with crazy skillshots over time to have fun with. This is their first big hit in years, it'll get tons of support.

edit: Actually, if you feel like you have a lot of trouble with Shiv, you should play a few games as Shiv even if you don't enjoy it. That'll help give you a feel for what he wants in a fight, so you can have a much easier time playing against him.

honestly the point about trying newer characters no matter what is great advice for a new player. after a couple of matches you're gonna see if you like or hate a character, but even if you're never gonna play them again you learned how they play and what you should do in general to counter them. just by playing a match with seven you're gonna realize he's overpowered because of his 3 and not because of his ult, and with haze you're gonna see how many times you die immediately if you just mindlessly press 4 on the enemy

Yea you're right, I did forget to mention how broken sevens 3 is. I think as a character goes hes the "easiest" to learn or to play Im sure their are counters and I'll learn them over time.. but as you can tell from the patch notes the devs and other people also think hes really strong or else he wouldnt be catching so many nerfs
