Or, you know, the game is trash right now and doesn't value the players time at all. Every game has 1 or 2 players killing it acting like they don't belong while everyone else is negative getting their turds pushed in to their throats. You're going to be playing against the same sweaty nerds over and over pretty soon because nobody wants to play this dumpster fire the way it is right now.
Even though it's a moba, which by now is a pretty well understood genre by Valve, this one is still pretty much the first of it's kind in how it plays. So that's why they need to collect that data, to understand how the changes they make will affect how the game is played by the players.
