Overwatch is so much better to look at.
Either they lost their touch or there's something else going on
I think TF2, Apex, Overwatch and Paladins should've been good examples for the art style, somehow it looks similar, but far from as good...
It kind of is a copy of other art styles though, it isn't new.
Colors, shapes, themes. The mix of steampunk, fantasy and sci-fi.
For instance, thee characters: Paradox, Viscous, Abrams, Seven, Haze, even Infernus with his finger gun. I'm very new to the game so I've not check them all, but these ones have something intriguing about them that makes want to learn more about the lore. Aesthetic tastes are a personal matter but for me this game offers the most interesting character design I've seen since Gigantic.
I would be happy to know what are the games you think offer more inspired character designs since Overwatch, for instance.
But to give you a few I think are good examples
Overwatch: has a great mix of different characters who are likeable, a lot of choice, manly feminine, color and history. There ARE likeable characters in my opinion
Paladins: a bit the same as with Overwatch, but I have more experience playing this game and I prefer its character design... I'm a adult and the character designs looked a lot less childish compared to the competition, which makes me more interested from the get go...
TF2: They just all felt unique and did what you expected, they were funny, silly goofy < I just liked each and everyone of them
Of course this is based on my own opinion, but all those games drawed me in with decent character designs, Deadlock doesn't... they all look lame to me... trying to take itself serious.
the lane rails are ugly and functionally kinda clunky. imagine every map has to have some kind of weird rail/flight path for each lane.
they need to go back to the drawing board on a lot of things. its like 80% there. which is a bad spot to be in. bottom of the troth really.
im still rooting for the devs though. need more hero shooters that arent as soulless as concord. or as corrupted as overwatch... or as uninteresting as that other one. the cs clone. cant even remember the name because its bad. i only remember "Molly!!!"
But I do hope... since Valve releases are rare, but also been good in the past
The modern audience doesn't exist
