Deadlock

Deadlock

Intel UHD 630 (low-end GPU) testing
2024/08/24: Virtually unplayable 10-30 FPS at lowest settings DX11 (Vulkan crashes) at 720x480 on Windows 10 and driver 31.0.101.2128. Text is difficult to read at that 720x480 resolution, while 720p is more-readable but even lower FPS.

I play Dota 2 with a mix at 720p or 1080p (lowered scaling) DX11 50-75 FPS no problem.

I suspect performance on Deadlock won't improve since CS2 is also unplayable still far-worse than CS:GO. Min settings on CS2 still has individual dust particles flying around. It's whatever the newer Source Engine is I guess.

Was going to leave this as a game review, but it bait-and-switch'd at the end by only allowing it for released games :p I'll leave it here and maybe come back if this game doesn't end up like Artifact:

Performance (FPS) with Deadlock is needlessly terrible! This is Source engine, and CS2 is the only notable comparison, so even with Deadlock being in "beta" currently there's little hope for performance to be vastly-improved later when it's been awful with CS2 from the start.

I use Intel UHD 630, and that's fine-enough for playing CS:GO and Dota 2 (mix of high at 1080p 50-75 FPS). With Deadlock min-settings, I get 20-30 FPS at 480p with barely-readable text on HUDs, similar performance to CS2. As much as I doubt I'd ever break-open my Steam wallet to entertain anything with Deadlock's monetization dance, being able to play it first might be nice :p

Deadlock is apparently playable on better hardware, so if you can play CS2 you can (likely) play this! I have no reasonable game feedback with about 5 minutes of sub-20 FPS, but it played like Smite (you're the controllable hero/camera vs top-down Dota unit-command-style), and I ran up a wall and grabbed a ledge with just holding Spacebar implying controls aren't complex :p I didn't see anything Dota/Tower/MOBA-ish in that short time, and without knowing that that (apparently) exists I'd have just thought this was a deathmatch hero-shooter with abilities. Nothing unique stood-out, besides the FPS counter :p

The UHD 630 is already fairly outdated at this point. Once the game comes out fully optimized, who knows when, I don't expect it to cater well to this old integrated solution.

The game is still very work in progress so performance may change for better or worse.
My PC is a laptop that has an Intel Core i3 1115G4 CPU, Intel Iris XE GPU, 8GBs Ram and an SSD.
I installed the game because I wanted to test it on the PC (the game is 22GB in total).
The CPU remained at 100% during the entire game, the GPU remained at around 50% and the RAM consumed a high level, practically using all the memory.
the fps kept varying from 17 - 26 with 70% resolution scaling (if I remember).
