Report a translation problem
I don't know why no one has mentioned this explicitly yet, but they don't introduce saving games until a certain point in the tutorial campaign missions. Then it is a button at the top of the screen at all times. It is a "power" the main character suddenly recalls how to use. It's part of the storyline. The option to save manually doesn't exist before that point, unless you are playing Endless, Skirmish, or Sandbox.
Only after the save is introduced. Before then, the early first couple missions do not have the save function available.
