Thinking About Buying
The game looks a lot like a type of tower defense, is this the case? It is fine either way but I was just curious.

God bless

There's definitely some tower defense elements, but it's closer to They Are Billions than a normal tower defense.
A developer of this app has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

I'm thinking about buying too. Is it hard to figure out how to build walls? After watching youtube videos on it it seems pretty complex. I know some units need to be higher up to shoot and others need to be lower. Is there a tutorial that explains this?

the intro tutorial does a pretty good job of explaining it to you, but it's pretty straitforward. some units want to be 4- blocks above the target, some want to be 5+ blocks above the target. you can build windows to let units shoot "through the wall" . the walls get tougher the taller they are, so you're encouraged to build very tall. lots of little upgrades can be placed near the soldiers to boost them. so you're kind of building a lego-block defense.

you can also 'save' and use blueprints for structures, and it seems to have a system of uploading and downloading the blueprints, so that's pretty cool.

Cool. Thanks for the information man.
Its not hard to get a hang of. The tutorial is also pretty comprehensive and explains things little by little

I’m stuck on the tutorial part where you have to build a spiral staircase but your only given two pieces of items to use.

Is the game done, or still in development?
Enemy behavior is insanely simplistic.

I'm watching some footage from Phrosphor right now and this is what is holding me back- he is on the offensive and building partial structures to gain advantage, the wall-tops are easily accessible and yet the enemies are only attacking the wall base immediately closest to them. I was hoping they'd behave at least a little better and provide the need for fully enclosed buildings, melee/tank units, doors etc.

I just finished it. Needed about 20h to play through all 17 missions.
(14 story game missions and 3 tower defence missions.)
The game is done.

I liked it, i can make a recommodation.
I just think, its a bit too short. 20hours were gone in an instant and i was hoping for more.
I found not a single bug, which is not a given nowadays.

And actually i have troubles to understand the story. Which is the reason, why i am browsing the forums at the moment.

Tbh part of it is that I have 0 interest in a campaign, endless survival is what I thought would be the focus of the game.

I must admit, i don´t rely enjoy this part. I played a lot of hours in "they are billions" (500h+). But in comparison to that i don´t find cataclismo in the endless survival mode very attractive.
And i still try to figure out, why. Maybe it has to do with the fact, that you have to "earn" your more advances technologies there with points.
You can do very little without them. You get the points as reward from certain things like slaying horrors or building stuff.
It gives me a weird "pay for playing"-feeling. Which i don´t really like.
