6 support runes from the get go overpowers players too fast and suggestions for adding some kind of progression for Rituals.
On top of giving players so many free support runes I've YET to die since starting, no not because of the support runes but since I get so much free stuff it makes gearing up for the first floor or 2 a standard affair.

What if instead the player starts with no or maybe 1 support rune, and to give the Ritual Keeper a point AFTER the tutorial you give him motes to repair the damaged rune slots that were, well, damaged when the Alderman did his thing, make them cost all 3 motes of varying costs as well as villager requirements as well because, maintenance takes people!

Hell, you could do the same with the pit key slots, limit the player to 1 key until they get 3 keys purchased and allow them to turn in motes or unlock it for free, don't want put TOO MUCH forced farming on players so that they can then start mix/matching pits, would be a great way to introduce the whole, you can do a pure pit run or mix 2 for a hybrid run, that the Keeper can tell you about after unlocking the 2nd key slot.

Why? Even more grind? It takes too long of doing the same thing over and over anyway. Hell, even the very end is not special. Just goes to the menu. Like WTF...

Not a bad idea, it gives you more to do. Does the ritual keeper actually do anything later in the game? I'd suggest in addition to any hints he gives, maybe open this panel:

This reminds players where they're up to and what they should be doing next. I didn't even know you were supposed to combine the keys...

Another thing he could do is a random help blurb about powers and runes, or things you might encounter, but that could require a lot of filler text.

Edit:
This idea actually makes the gamepplay tip "The Ritual Keeper is your guide to the Pit and it's denizens. Pay attention to their words and be sure to check in regularly." make logical sense and give more consistency to the story/progression.

No he's pointless once you get them all.

Yes, and when you beat the game, I am not sure if there is any point in maxing villagers anymore? Since the ending was... with no ending, I expect there is no end-game mechanics.
