Won't launch

I can't get this to start - I get a grey screen with the version number and then I'm back on the desktop. Is that a known bug/anyone else had this or have any suggestions? I've reinstalled, restarted comp etc. Other Steam games are working fine. Think I'm going to refund for now, but hope to be able to play this sometime.

This behavior happens when the game doesn't understand that it's being launched by steam (DRM stuff). Do you open the game using a shortcut to an .exe file ? or through the steam interface ?
