Next Friday April 11, our [Metric] Devs will do their best to set the highest score on the Daily Challenge leaderboards. They'll ignore their workload and skip lunch just to keep you from the top.

The Backlogs

This week, we've partnered with The Backlogs to perform a challenge run of Battle Shapers with only starting equipment, meaning they had to defeat all three Overlords and VerOs using only what's available in the Hideout at the start of their run.

Hello Shapers! 👋

A new update for Battle Shapers has arrived! Version 1.1 brings a brand new mode for Shapers: the Daily Challenge! Designed to last about 10 minutes, this is a snack-sized feature where you race against fellow players to top the daily leaderboard in this time and point-based challenge. This feature is unlocked by defeating the first boss.

Every day, there will be a new configuration of weapons, abilities, enemies, cores, and more to tinker with as you battle your way through the challenge. You’ll earn bonus points for taking down enemies, defeating the Overlord, keeping your health bar full, and of course, time remaining on the clock.

This new mode is perfect for new and experienced Shapers alike. Whether you’re looking for the highest score or to discover dozens of loadout configurations available, the Daily Challenge has something for you.

Don’t forget to join the Community Discord[discord.gg] to compete with fellow players, talk strategy, debate which core is the best, and participate in future Daily Challenge contests & livestreams.

Welcome to our latest community update! We’ve got updates to share and exciting news on the horizon, so without further ado… let’s dive in!


As the snow melts here in Montréal and the days grow longer, only one thing comes to mind: Spring (Sale)! 🌱🌞 Once again, it is the annual Steam Spring Sale, and to celebrate the option of going outside again, our video game is on sale!

Battle Shapers is 35% off - if you’ve been on the fence, this might just be the thing to get you into New Elysium to face off against the Overlords. The sale only runs until March 20th - don’t miss out!


Our latest community playtest is now live! Our testers are running through patch v1.1 and poking at our various additions and fixes.

We are still uploading our full soundtrack to our YouTube channel! This week’s addition is our tune from Huck’s Haul - you can now bop these shop beats without having to battle your way through the towers.

Hello, Shapers!

Welcome to the first community update for Battle Shapers! 🎉 We're highlighting content from our community (and from me, the community manager!) to help you follow what's going on.

In this edition, we've got our soundtrack in a fun new format, we've prepared a short personality quiz for those who like to click buttons and learn about themselves, we've highlighted some recent creator videos, and we tease an upcoming playtest...


As a gift to our community & players, and to help bring these songs to a new audience, we'll be sharing a new song every week with an accompanying visualizer! These will live on our YouTube channel and our socials, so if you're looking for some "beats to smash bots to" or just some new tracks for your study playlist, we've got you covered! 📝🎵

While very little about Ada and our soundtrack is lo-fi, we took inspiration from that classic format for our visualizer and brought in Meemo and Hauly for the fun as well!

It’s your new community manager here, with your latest patch notes!

First, a quick intro: my name is Colin, and you’ll see me around here, Discord, and our social media! I’m working on some neat community initiatives that you won’t want to miss.

Now, without further ado, your patch notes!

This is v.1.0.3, and it includes a variety of fixes, adjustments and some community-requested features, like an option to toggle off aim assist and support for ultrawide monitors.

Bug Fixes:

• Fixing formatting and spelling issues in some dialog lines.
  
• Fixing collision issues in Storm Scraper Boss room & Combat rooms. (✨)
  
• Fixing an issue where the player can be locked in the Gravity Garden if failing the corrupted chest gameplay.(✨)
  
• Improving the hit detection for the Strike Core Overkill Refactor enhancement. (✨)
  
• Fixed an issue with the player maximum health not being saved correctly if the player resumes a run. (✨)
  
• Fixing an issue preventing turret abilities to apply energy type effects to enemies. (✨)
  
• Fixing an issue causing the player to be locked in the Shaper Hacks menu.
  
• Fixing an issue causing the player to be locked in the core enhancements pick up menu when they have collected all enhancements possible. (✨)

Quality of Life Changes:

• Added an option to turn off the aim assist. (✨)
  
• Improved support of Ultra wide screen resolutions. (✨)
  
• Improved rendering performance of the grinder traps.

Let's kick things off with a very warm welcome to all of our new Shapers! If you're just now joining us from the V1.0 launch, please know that we're really happy to have you with us.

We're really pleased with V1.0's launch, especially with the great feedback from both our early-access and new players (thank you). We made a hard push for optimizations and features in December and we're thrilled players have noticed the difference.

Alright, here's a quick update:

Things are back in full swing at Metric Empire.

In the coming weeks, we'll be releasing a patch with a number of bug fixes and quality of life improvements.

We're also collecting feedback on desired features right now and evaluating what's feasible. We have a few ideas but can't promise anything just yet. If you have any ideas, please feel free to drop them in the comments or discussion board!

Thank you for your support and reception of v1.0!

We've heard your feedback and have decided to make it much more permissive for you to quit and resume your runs than how it was previously possible. As long as you don't die, you will now be able to quit the game at any point in the run and then resume it later from the start of the last floor you have reached, forfeiting any progress made on that specific floor instead of cancelling your run as a whole.

A minority of players reported having to restart their runs from the beginning due to crashes or softlock bugs, which we felt wasn't fair to them especially given how involving Battle Shapers runs are. This fix allows us to address the problem while we work on eliminating the bugs altogether.

This hotfix patch also includes a fix for the performance degradation that happened for some players as well as a specific crash we identified.

Changelog for build 1.0.2.10092

Gameplay Changes:

• Major save game rework; players can now leave a run at any point and without losing active run progress. If players quit during a floor or if the game crashes, they can resume the run from the most recent floor's starting point.
  
• Added new UI feedback for when players earn new Reroll Tokens.
  
• Added new UI feedback for when stacks of Curse are reduced.
  
• Added a Windowed display option.

Balancing Changes:

• Phantom Code difficulty further increases enemy damage but reduces the amount of HP gained.
  
• Weapon Mod that boosts damage while consuming credits now costs 5 credits per shot.
  
• A stack of Curse is now removed when defeating a boss.
  
• Lowered the HP of Volt Colossus' Gigavolt Bomb attack.
  
• Moved the Invulnerable Enemies Phantom Code Effect from Gamma to Delta difficulty level.
  
• Reworked the Battering Ram's spread to be a bit wider.
  
• Reworked the Corrupted Shock Rifle's base damage scaling; the weapon's damage increase no longer stacks outside of combat and is now capped relative to the weapon's magazine size.

Bug Fixes:

• Fixed Phantom Code bug when using the Hideout Teleporter.
  
• Fixed the Combat Buff's icons sometimes not being visible.
  
• Fixed an issue causing the Elite Voltrider attacks to not be used.
  
• Fixed a bug in which The Argument would disappear from your inventory when resuming a saved run.
  
• Fixed an issue causing Vatkins to not despawn at the end of a fight.
  
• Fixed minor localization issues.
  
• Fixed Performance Degradation when playing several time the Storm Scrapper in a session.
