Otherwise you get jank controls like one player using RTYFHVBN and the other player uses the arrow keys or numpad to move around.
In order to properly implement controls for both players, you need to go to the controls menu and choose inputs for 1P and 2P. If someone is using a controller you should choose PAD for them. The keyboard user should choose FULL. If both players are sharing the keyboard, you choose LEFT and RIGHT respectively.
Is it possible for both players to use the pads?
Y'know, it might feel one-sided if one has to use the keyboard and the other has to use the pad
I personally didn't feel much of a difference using either controller or keyboard and the friend I was playing with didn't mind exclusively using keyboard either.
Hmmmm... In fact I do recall having a similar issue where the option didn't allow assigning PAD1 and PAD2 to both players. I attempted to allow pad usage for both players(I used Dualshock 4, and the opponent used Xbox One controller IIRC)
Aite thanks for the help anyway. If only the MP was possible through a friend invite
