Needs Better Controller Settings
Besides the frame drops and the fact that I can't play against a CPU custom character, the other big problem with the game is controls.

I use an Xbox controller, so if I want to make the game use Smash's control layout, I have to swap A and B. However, that then makes it so that B is select, and A is back in the menu. All I want to to change are the buttons for fighting, not the menu as well, do that's really annoying.

Also, being able to change my controls ON the character select screen needs to happen as well. This is important especially when playing local multiplayer. Rivals of Aether does both of these, and it's a great experience because of it. Thanks!

100% I agree with this! I like the controls settings for combat but having to use X for confirm and Y for back is confusing, plus color pallette/costume selection should not be on entirely different sections of the controller when doing this.

And they can't get walking right to save their lives. You have to move the stick so slow it isn't even worth it.

You can play against CPU custom characters, just have to use your mouse to select them currently

Gotcha, thanks! Considering I got this as a "second" rivals of aether alternative for my custom Fighter itch, I GREATLY needed that.

Yeah I also could not configure my controls as I wanted.
I mostly wanted jump on A and to unbind attack and have separated keys for tilt and stong... and well that's not really possible with the ingame configuration. (unless you want to navigate menus in a mind-bending way)
I looked into the steam controller configuration tool and I managed to kind of setup what I wanted.
I jump on A, I have attack bound to left bumper and just do not use it, strong on B, tilt on X and special on right trigger.
To use the menus I activate an "action layer" by pressing right bumper that maps my A button to input left bumper (my attack key) and my B button to input right trigger (my special key). Once I'm in a battle, I deactivate the layer again.

If anyone is willing to do some setup work to get their controls running, I just posted a guide covering how to set up 2 action layers.
