Black screen when starting game

Having the same issue.

Solved it by going back to the update that released on the 13th and having the game launch in windowed mode. Not sure if this will solve anything for someone else but it worked for me.

I was trying to get this working, no luck with the current version at all.

What I did note for others is if I remove the scanline fix from the game's files it loads just fine, but with a awful permanent set of vertical scanlines and an awful blue tint, but once that fix is removed this just works in either full or windowed for me.

Would have been nice if they'd actually PATCHED that issue in the first place.

Just started having this issue when I tried loading the game on a new laptop. This doesn't seem to be a major issue, as in not many people are running into this, leading me to wonder if maybe this is an intel issue as steam reports that intel is the least used of the three big companies (i.e. AMD, Intel, and NVIDIA). So my follow up for everyone in this thread is: what company made your graphics card and what company made your cpu?

Never mind, the first patch from 2021 under the betas thing worked for me so I doubt it's whatever I was looking at

Also, just learned that you can switch to the latest release for boss fights, the game only has a black screen trying to load Travis' apartment

The bad news is that when you beat a boss it sends you back to his apartment before you can save

Even worse news is that the 2021 version keeps crashing out on the results screen! The game is totally bronked out now and it's just a Killer7 (ha ha, get it?) fest because all I can do is kill the same boss over and over again.

Fixed it, replace the STG and STG_HI files from the latest version with the folders from the 2021 version

Double fixed, just take the STG500US file from the 2021 version and put that into the STG folder of the latest release
