And I'm calling BS on your argument about KB+M, moving a mouse in one out of four directions is not hard. You can say "but NMH2 has a weapon which requires two inputs for QTE", and if this was a proper port, changing QTEs shouldn't be too difficult. It's beyond lazy, don't lower your standards.
I mean, you can move the mouse for the normal QTEs, but I wouldn't imagine it being graceful. I can imagine the game not reading your inputs correctly 100%, like the swtich port with joycons. Also, what would you change the two inputs QTEs to? Mouse plus keyboard buttons? It might get the job done, but it'd be really clunky.
Something like that, yeah.
I'm using customized inputs with Steam's Controller Configuration thingy and I set Travis' movements to a d-pad because I find it more comfortable than using a stick. Just like WASD, d-pad has only 8 directions and the QTE works well. I figure it would make no difference on keyboard.
EDIT: Oh yeah and while we're talking about QTE's, the clash QTE requires you to move the right stick, but for some reason it registers the left stick as well. I just felt like pointing it out.
Yeah, that can work, but my issue is that almost all of the motions are supposed to resemble the motions you do in game. In the wii version, this works well. The switch port does surprisingly well with its two sticks, the only problem being the baseball mini game. Keyboard and mouse might work for everything, but when it comes to using two inputs, it'll be tricky. You don't want to lose that feeling of actually performing the move because it's an integral part of the experience. Some people can look past it, others can't.
Also since you mentioned baseball and gyro sensors you should know this... you're not Gold ranking them here unless they patch the game, its impossible. Nobody I talked to managed to do it either. So not only is this a barebones port, but its not even fully functional.
That is true, but even then it still feels really satisfying to pull off, albeit less so than with motion controls. I can't really explain it but the way they handled it for the controller feels natural, so no wonder Skyward sword HD copyed NMH's method lol.
I'm actually still impressed that the motion controls for these games aren't total ass like most.
