Loss of Save Data

We've had two people in our gaming group experience this issue multiple times now. Periodically the game will hang. (They can't interact with items, get to the save menu, etc.) The game ends up crashing. Upon reload, the game only has saved data from a significant period prior. Manual backups do not appear to be getting saved. (Or are somehow being deleted?) We've been careful about this since the first person experienced it. I looked in the saved files area and sure enough, there is a gap of over 4 hours in this instance. No auto save data or player backups are showing at all in the more recent timeframes. To be clear, we've been running manual save backups when playing multiplayer. In this instance, one was done about an hour or so ago and is nowhere to be found.

I also checked my own save data and manual backups that I have been doing are missing as well. It's like the system is writing over the files somehow/not respecting the save. (Also-It would really help to have the save name mentioned in the files for easy restoration rather than an automated naming convention.)

Also-Is there a solution for the character save data being lost? Besides the world save data being lost, they lost 4 plus levels of work. I'm not sure how to resolve for that as it doesn't appear to save your character data in a fashion with intervals similar to the world data.

The TLDR Summary: Upon crash, prior save data appears to get deleted. You cannot restore from a relatively recent save point. We've tried using the in game backup feature and those save files are not being retained when this issue happens. This is a game breaking issue that ruins progression and unfortunately results in a very negative player experience. If it wasn't happening to multiple people on different saves in my group, I would say it was a more isolated incident. However, that is not the case and it basically appears to be an issue that happens at crash for players.

This felt absolutely disgusting. I had done so much in the lost gap I can't even remember how to get back to where I was. Found runes and associated upgrades bought, researched tech, a complete house, a mostly reworked shop, 4 new quality employees from rerolls, a much larger garden plot, not to mention all that xp and cash, all gone. I mean, etc etc, I can't even remember all the progress I made.

If there is really no way to recover this data, I have to shelve the game for now. No one can justify playing for nothing, progression is the only reason to play.

UPDATE: I can see in saves that my old file is there, previous level and a snap of where i was. Afraid to click it as it is implied to be a save only menu and dont want to replace the file. Can I load from this menu?
