A Bizarre Bazaar

I have the shepherd's core and am trying to talk to Laurence outside of the Bazaar but he isn't acknowledging that I have the item and cannot complete the quest. Am I missing something?

You don't bring the core to him, check your map with the quest set as your focus and you'll see a circle where you're meant to take it, which is the fancy gate leading INTO the Bazaar.
