mini map option

Is there a way to have the mini map in your eyes as you are traveling? I know there is the map you can unlock and carry around on you. But i was wondering if there was one to have constant in your eyes.
For those erm.. Directionally challenged.. Not claiming i may or may not be one lol. But constnatly having to stop to open the map while exploring to unlock places gets rather bothersome and have found ive died because of that
