I found an achievement fix, but there is another problem. *Edit: Workaround found.*
First off, here's what I did that got the current achievements I have as of this post to unlock: I started by going to the itch page for this demo, found here: https://deerdreamstudios.itch.io/cooking-companions-appetizer-edition, and downloading from there.

After that, I deleted ALL the content from the Steam folder for the game and replaced it with the content from the itch one. When I started the game again after that, all the achievements I had met the prerequisites for in past playthroughs unlocked at once.

I still have one more to go, so I'm going to see if this fix makes it so you unlock them as you go or if you have to do it again every time you met a requirement.

Now onto the problem this didn't fix: I can only get the cabbage roll recipe to come up if I click the link in-story. Clicking it in the gallery just shows a big error screen. There are other situations where I come across this screen, such as picking either option at the end of jump scare mode.

Edit: You can get all the achievements in the current build of the demo. I discovered a method that allowed me to roll back to a version that has all the content but doesn't crash.

I posted the process as a guide since attempting to link to the finished product got me banned and I had to appeal it. Look for "How to mod the demo to recognize achievements and download an earlier build that does not have the crashes" in the guides section.

Nice! It worked but I also have the exact same issue with the recipe as well.

I gotta say, it's pretty surprising how easily these VNs can bug and what can fix them...

I'm not blaming the devs, I'm just making an observation.

Surprise update!
I messaged the devs about this recently on Twitter and they got back to me. They say it's likely a problem with the engine and I sent them screenshots of the errors that always show up.

They're really gonna blame a free and open source engine like that? Lame.
