Feedback on Baigon/Final Boss(es)
Ok, so I finally beat the game on Warrior (with scout) and I have to say that this final fight was beyond frustrating.

Not because of lack of skill, but because of some really, really stupid mechanics that are just baked into the game. Let me explain:

1.) There are practically no windows of time to do a huge chunk of damage to him, leaving you to just jump + attack + jump + attack. This makes the fight, even with perfect execution, like 10 minutes long. But that's not the end of it!

2.) Why does Amulet of Death not work on Baigon? This should be fixed so you can get some extra normal type damage in guaranteed. It's really dumb that it doesn't work.

3.) Parasite Zero has some strange and annoying qualities. Again, to me it's not really annoying like "this is too hard" but just weird mechanics. The claw swipes are deceptive and the pre-animation (the slice) is not at all indicative of the radius of the actual claw. This is really stupid because you can't predict if you're going to get hit or not unless you just run like crazy in the opposite direction. If that's the intent then fine, but still would be nice to predict attacks.

4.) The UPPER eyeballs of the parasite are SO hard to hit unless you perfectly nail your double jump. Not to mention the damn thing floats up and down, making it even harder. This makes the fight SO tedious.

5.) The RNG involved in the portals that suck you in like black holes is really dumb. Sometimes they open up and the sequence is easy, other times it is literally impossible to avoid the damage. And they do good damage PLUS confusing you.

6.) Same as Baigon, hardly any windows to do a decent amount of damage except towards the end of this fight as the lower eyes open. Even so, this raises another point which I brought up in another post - why are skills normal damage and not the damage of the orb you've chosen? It basically makes them useless on boss fights which reduces combat to just jump + attack + dodge + attack, etc. etc. Like do you guys realize how mundane this is?

I wish overall that there was more flexibility to use skills, and to use tools (secondary weapons) in a better way. Right now they run out quickly, are an absolute pain in the ass to select from 1050192309120312 options and, largely, are useless. There are probably only 3-4 secondary weapons MAX that I would say are actually decent, with the others being very useless because of low damage or retarded animations. For example, spawn lance is one of the more frustrating ones to get and it is literally useless for all that trouble.

My two cents.

PS:

CUTSCENES. WHY CAN'T YOU SKIP CUTSCENES? It took me 15 tries or something to beat this boss and every time I'm just rolling my eyes that I have to go through all of these cutscenes, including the 3 levels climbing up to fight Baigon.

Just finished a couple of hours ago and have to agree with everything you've said. Playing as scout against the two final bosses is annoying as hell. Here's what i'd suggest:

  • As you've said, make skills align with whatever stone is currently equipped. having them do neutral damage seems strange and maybe a bug? if not then it's bad design choice

  • Have an option to remove items and secondary tools from the selection wheel. I don't want or need to have everything at my disposal because more than half of those secondary weapons are useless in most situations.

  • lower the damn hit-box in parasite zero. having to precisely jump and land a single attack on the top eyes before the next phase is not fun and drags the fight on for far too long.

  • during the shield phase with baigon, increase the time in which he is in a single element. again, this is about damage windows for the player otherwise it becomes a tedious fight.

  • during the Baigon wind phase, increase the time for the tornados to cross the top platform and remove the tornado that fires straight down out of his arse. On many attempts, i've been caught out on this one and it gives you far too little time to avoid them.

^^ agree wholeheartedly with all of this, few things I missed so thank you

I'd prefer not having to jump to attack over and over on Parasite Zero, it also invalidates certain skills entirely and you already had to do Beigon like this so it's pretty frustrating and tedious already before you even start.

Also how about giving the player a REAL window to attack here. Add a couple seconds of idle animation after attacks so they can do some damage more consistently considering the absurd amount of health these bosses have in relation to how often you can attack them.

i am at him now as a scout on hard mode. hes hard, but i have a question, do the game save after the fight? i am kinda worried about spending the limitied types of consumables like the 2.5k ones and the legendary fruits because i am afraid of a even harder boss after him and the game saving.

EDIT ended up killing him while spending every limitied consumable i had, died like 15 times with normal pots before getting him at first try with the limitied ones. and to answer my own question the game does not leave you in a posision were you spent all your pots only to fight a harder boss. however the game gives you a checkpoint before the last phase of the boss, but if you spent to much pots during phase 1 you can reload save and it will put you 10-15 min back before you entered the final area.

if you spent all your valkyrie feathers, 70% pots and 100% pots at other fights, your probably going to get real frustrated at the last boss. since its equally hard as the other bosses but with 3-4x the amount of health

The only thing I can say about the last boss - f*ck this sh*t!
Fighting him is real torture with artificial stretching time. I ended up watching the ending on youtube and even there it took the streamer 20 minutes of real time to defeat this boss. 20 minutes, carl! And that's assuming he obviously already knew his attacks and knew how to dodge them. Who on your team decided that this would be fun?
And like a cherry on a cake - the inability to save the game immediately before the battle with him. Decided to take a breather and try again later? Kindly run to him again through three arenas that cannot be missed. Seriously? Even such an obvious thing couldn't be made more user-friendly?
