For some reason this actually makes the controller function correctly.
Good looking out. Thanks for adding that here.
Thanks CIDphi for clarifying this in a new topic!
My pleasure. Glad to help.
BTW, I have no controller profile active in Steam/Big Picture, all are deactivated and my DS4 gamepad works without any problem in Souldiers. You also don't need DS4Windows for it. ;) And not many games have direct DualShock support, only a few like Dead Cells, all others give a damn about the best controller the world has to offer, they just want you to use a lq XB controller.
Also, it came directly with a good German localization, it only has a few typos, nothing dramatic, just cosmetically. A very good translation, no google/deepL translation, there were definitely a human who wrote German.
also if i do this, with switch pro controller, the game goes crazy and closes soon as it inputs ten bilion at the same time :(
if I set up controls ingame as switch, it selects them all wrong :(
You don't really quite understand what you're talking about, do you? You know I'm just some regular user like you and am not a dev for this company, right? This is a common Steam wide issue that occurs on countless games. This is a thread that is seen posted all over the place and nothing new. It's not solving something that "didn't need to be solved," it's not re-inventing the wheel, and has, well, literally nothing to do with anything you've posted. Like at all.
This is only one of several ways to fix scrambled controls that plague seemingly random users across Steam. Nearly ever indie game discussion board has a thread discussing the problem.
I'm using a switch pro controller for this game and nothing posted in this thread seems to work for me. I tried setting the souldiers.exe file to run as an administrator while keeping the steam controller settings to 'use default settings' and the game simply disconnected my controller when I booted up the game. I also tried to disable steam controls, which made the controls glitch out and close the game with the same issue LetsPlayNintendoITA detailed in his report.
Putting all the settings into default results in the original problem of the shoulder buttons being swapped randomly, so what should I do?
I use a Switch Pro Controller as well and I just had to change the controller profile from Switch to 360 and it fixed it for me. That with the disabled Steam inputs kept everything correct and without swapped shoulder buttons.
I tried this and I ran into the same issue where the controller disconnects and random inputs happen until the game crashes.
Have you tried the "enable Steam input" settings and manually assign controller inputs from big picture mode? That is what I am currently using with my Pro controller.
