ABOUT REGIONAL PRICING
To our Argentinian and Turkish friends,

We have heard your feedback regarding the regional pricing of Souldiers in your respective countries. We regret the situation, and wish we could bring you Souldiers at a price matching its value in your local currency.

Unfortunately, due to systemic and unfair practices by third parties to abuse the distribution platform policies, we must stand by our current pricing. We have a responsibility to the developers - and our friends - over at Retro Forge, a very small team of people who have dedicated their lives over the past 4 years to make this game the gem that it is today.

We deplore this state of affairs, and are in-going talks with Steam and other platforms - as many publishers are - to try and find a better solution for future releases.

I couldn't wait to buy the game and support you guys. I loaded money into my Steam wallet and was eagerly waiting for the hours to pass. You can't imagine my disappointment and anger. Players living in Turkey and Argentina are prevented from accessing this game. This price policy serves bad purposes. Unfortunately, this price policy is not a player friendly, but an enemy. I nervously opened a topic and gave my reaction and I see that I was right in my reaction. If the price of the game changes, I will buy the game.

You are charging twice the price in Argentina than what's charged in neighbor country Brazil. It's only fair to try to avoid abuses, but Bandai Namco fixed the prices of all their games for Argentina without going for the unreasonable direct usd to ars conversion. I appreciate your efforts in making such an interesting game, but charging this much in Argentina is just unreasonable and will just incentive piracy. Your game has already been cracked in Russian forums, so I really can't see how this helps the developers. No one's asking for the game to be unreasonably cheap, but the way it is now is just ridiculously expensive considering everything else released. Right now it's just as expensive as Red Dead Redemption 2 and Dying Light 2, for instance. I don't mean to say you're game isn't as good as those, but those are multi-million dollar behemoths and this just isn't. This game price should be on the same range as something like Death's Door, not a standard AAA title.

If you want to pay the Argentine regional price, you will have to have an Argentine credit card, and you will only be able to play in Argentina and certain neighboring countries.
The barriers are quite strong in my opinion.
And the regional prices are one of the greatest achievements against pIracy.
A real shame. :marten_sip:

What "Abuse" ? This has been a made up excuse for a while now. There's no such thing since valve already took action and have made a lot of restrictions to, at least, our country (Argentina)

Well, you stand by your pricing, I 100% guarantee you it won't sell a single copy here. Good luck

I think what they are talking about is third party resellers of steam credit or gift cards, like ENEBA. What people from other countries do is buy steam gift cards from there using a vpn, pay a fraction of what they would normally pay since buying from eneba in ARG pesos or in other currencies, like Chilean pesos or Brazilean reals is extremely cheap when you're doing it in USD, and then add that steam credit to your account from the same region.

it's probably that, but in that case keeping the prices as they are would not solve the problem, the resellers could buy the keys in countries like brazil that is at a regional price, I don't see why not put it in Argentina too, I really don't think it affects much to sales. it's really sad...

Thats not posible as far I know, our Steam Gift cards are in Pesos, not in USD. And you need and Argentine Card too, not only VPN.

EDIT:
I checked the gift cards in that ENEBA page and there it is even more expensive, the card can only be activated in Argentina, it has value in Argentine pesos not in dollars, and it would not be good business to buy it, not even for someone from other countries.

The interest I had in your game was gone because of your measurements that you guys took.

In Uruguay, which isn't used by exploiters as far as I know, the price is also higher than we usually get with regional pricing. If your stance is that countries that have a worse income have to be punished because of some exploiters then that's pretty sad. I was really looking forward to the game. Guess us third world countries can't be treated the same as US/etc consumers, which are probably the ones using the exploits to begin with.

the excuse devs/publishers used in the past was people abusing the regional pricing sending games as gifts from argentina to other countries and charging a small amount via third party websites saying that was the reason to not use regional pricing, but that was fixed YEARS ago, 5 to be precise and on top of that you can only send games as a gift to certain cluster of countries and the price can't exceed the 10% difference... I don't know what kind of "abuse" are they talking about here.
