Hello! Unfortunately, DLCs can only work in the version of Movavi product for which they are intended.
That's ok. I hope my recently purchased Movavi Video Editor 14 Plus will still work for some time so I can still utilize its bundled DLCs. Maybe in the future there will be bigger discounts offered for owners of old but complete edition who will want to upgrade to the 2021 edition. Thanks for the reply.
Hi! There are no plans for such an update yet, but we will try to accommodate your suggestion.
If old DLCs will work and not require a re-purchase in the latest/future versions of Movavi Video Editor Plus, that's going to make a positive difference when deciding to upgrade. Usually, people would consider the total purchase cost to upgrade including any DLCs they have from their old version of the software. This is because sometimes people will need to still edit old projects and retain the use of elements from old DLCs. Other times, its just you really like some graphical elements from old DLCS and want to keep using them in other projects.
But since I just realized that the old version of Movavi Video Editor Plus does NOT actually guarantee that all major features will still work when you upgrade your Operating System and Graphics Card drivers (even if its just small incremental upgrades), I am now worried of getting the more current version of Movavi. It seems, the software has a really short expiration date of 2-3 years only. With that, there is no sense in getting a lifetime edition / perpetual license. For example, Movavi Video Editor Plus 14 (June 2018 release) have now suddenly lost its support for NVENC. This means exporting videos is now 5 to 6 times slower on my machine, forcing me to either immediately upgrade by purchasing a newer version or use another video editing software.
My old PowerDirector and Pinnacle Studio software are still fully functional and has no such short Expiration Date issue.
Hello!
Thanks you for your suggestion! All comments and wishes of customers are analyzed and, if possible, taken into account when developing updates to our software!
Please note that purchasing a lifetime license for any of the Movavi programs guarantees that you can use the program for an unlimited amount of time. If you have any problem in the old version of the program, that cannot be fixed, our support team will issue you a license for the most current version of the program for free.
Best regards,
Movavi team
Ok, but I do hope my problem with the Movavi Video Editor Plus 14 crashing issue with NVENC activated when exporting videos will be resolved. I still plan to use that software and all those DLCs I have. Anyhow, I will just be communicating with you in the proper thread under Movavi Video Editor Plus 14 product page and/or through email. Thank you for your assistance.
Buying an upgrade to the software should be just that. An upgrade. Not an entirely different product requiring entirely different DLC. I can see no reason on a technical level why past DLC cannot work on a newer version of the product aside from being locked out. They are nothing more than filters, images, animations and audio tracks.
