Claire's Quest

Persistent bug: Dog Walker job blocked
After you finish the ranger wolf quest, and 'cheer up' the hounds-master, the dog walker job can no longer be done; As when trying to talk with the hounds-master it only has a popup of: "The questline stops here."
Blocking all access to the 'Dog Walker' job because you can't talk to him anymore.

I have reported this bug in past versions, and it still has yet to be fixed in the current version (0.24.2), that is if it was even addressed at all. This is really not garnering any positive optics from me guys. These bugs need to be resolved both, quicker, and if a patch is released, need to stay gone, and not resurface. I'm sorry, but the amount of time that these 'blocker level' bugs persist is just unacceptable. I mean what's the point of having content in a game that you can't even access because of bugs?

There is a reason, but it may be a bit of a spoiler to read at your own discretion:

tl;dr no spoiler: Don't worry, it will be getting addressed eventually.

The kennels is going to be reworked as the first step of the "breeding" chain, before the horse barn.
This work will begin soon after the Ranger's questline is finished, which it will likely be in the next major update a few months after the one that should be coming soon-ish.
From the kennels, there will also be an option to engage in a romantic/consensual sex session with the remade kennelmaster and his doggo's.

So basically they leave it half implemented for months while they take their time on some other part. Making it 'bug out' and block already, and currently implemented parts.

Well that's just sloppy work at best. If anything, they should have left the scene out until they planned to fully implement it. At least there wouldn't be a 'blocker' left in it's place, restricting already implemented content. These guys just never cease to amaze in their piss poor decision making.

No wonder it's taking so long for anything to be finished. They hop around from here to there, and never complete one thing before moving onto the next. And I really don't see the point of doing that as none of the 'quest lines' actually carry over choices* into others. I mean I could understand if they did, but they don't.

I mean there's even an already added 'recipe' for the 'Nurse/Chimera' quest that requires Beth to be fully trained. And it stops because you can't even start training Beth yet. It just says 'This scene is not yet available'. It's so scattered that it makes it look very unprofessional. And this ain't their first game that they have released, so they really have no excuse for doing this.

*Example:
Like if you had Claire choose the 'Path of Domination' in the Temple quest line; Every time Claire got 'frisky' with another female, she could use her 'gift'. Like with Isabel when she's fully trained (The end scenes of the C.B.R. horse line). Or with Charlotte, or when doing alchemy with Aiyana, or if getting Esther Fairfelt to dominate Lawrence, or with Sally, and so forth for any newly added scene. I mean for a 'game of choices', there are very few branching effects.

They have begun focusing on specific questlines and aim to work on two major questlines at a time.
In the future, the main questline (which is now a high priority) will have branches that involve choosing between the major questlines to get help.

They also are focusing on two major questlines at a time in an aim to have more update-by-update progression. With Rangers and Sisters nearing completion. Then they move on to the next ones.

As for you example at the bottom, that would take a lot of time to make all the CGs. We're talking years and years tacked on to the already lengthy development time.
Because everyone will want the integration in everything. XD
As much as I'd love for Claire to use her "gift" on every one of the lovely ladies she comes across, I know that is a tall order to ask.

So they are working with those, while the Dog Walker job gets blocked, because of the ranger quest that has a branch into the C.B.R. quest, 'breaking/blocking' said job. Well that just brings me to my next point in response to the following...

Well, they have already shown that it's not that difficult for them to 'modify' what is already implemented;

For instance: The stable hand for the bull pen, used to be a cute redhead, and they (for some reason) race swapped her to a black chick. I ain't saying that it was 'bad' or 'wrong' to do so; I'm just wondering why it was done. The red head was fine, as she was.
Plus with the piercings there is a 'change in scenery' for the scenes.

So, one would think, that it wouldn't be that far fetched to 'edit' the scenes along the way to include Claire's 'gift' into the logical places she could use it. Plus it would also place more logical explanation to the 'area' High Sister Rose shows Claire, when Claire finds out about the shards (The whole 'abuse of power' clause).

I mean, give Claire the 'option' to use it in the logical places; And the more times it is used, the higher the chances she ends up in that area. Like as one of the possible endings to the game or something.

Still most of that is all very long term thinking, but that's kinda the point; The game has those kinda possibilities that could be tapped if it had a bit more branching from one quest to the other. I mean it even goes out of it's way to say things like that in the 'difficult' opening branch with the: "This is a game of choices. Claire's choices have long term effects."

So yeah, I think I've said what I wanted to say... For now.
Back before Steam and the game was only on Patreon, there was a high tier where backers could essentially commission a storyline.
The ranch is one of the storylines. So a lot of the call is based on the backer to make the call. Evelyn was decided on through this.
They developer didn't want to get rid of Evie (redhead) outright so she is being moved to a role in the Mercs questline.
The piercings were also one of the backer requests, and was made optional. So it was there from the beginning.

The Sister's storyline is also a backer questline. Same with Ranger's I think, and more.

So a lot of the things they do are based on these backers. Not always based on their own choices. But I think they do come to compromises.

Well no ♥♥♥♥!? It kinda figures that the richy B***hes are the ones to determine the fate of the game, or parts of it.

Gods forbid that anyone else has ideas that would actually make the game better, or more enjoyable for everyone. And never mind that those ideas might make the game sell a bit more, because it turned out to be one of the few things that wasn't intellectually bankrupt now days. (note the sarcasm)

Well, if nothing else, it just tells me a little bit more about the shady workings of this dev team. I mean you can give a man a $1,000,000, but that wont make him intelligent by default.
I don't know how much it was. But I like their ideas. So there's no loss for me.
People have brought up their ideas before and what they'd do if their questline got in and I certainly don't agree every idea would be better. XD

But keep in mind this was also a number of years back. I wasn't around since back then but they were likely getting off the ground.
Doing incentives like this is not uncommon to get a bit of a boost, especially if they want quests to fill in space anyway.

And I certainly don't agree with your overall assessment and claims of shadiness. Though, I can understand since the amount of information available on Steam is less, and the reason for the different versions is often skewed by people who don't even know the reason themselves.

Well I'm not saying that the ideas of the overall quest lines are bad; But some of the changes just don't make any sense. And branching them together not being possible because the "purchasers" of those quests didn't want it, is a bad idea; Because it takes away from the overall game.

On pateraon maybe; But games on Steam that are released in Early Access, with the intention of getting, or talking suggestions, usually are regarded as 'developer choice', and not 'whoever's got the most money, has the choice'.

I say it's shady because this particular thing is quite classist. Not all of us can afford to drop $600 a month or whatever the top tier costs, just to have some sort of say. That's what makes it shady.

Well the reasons are pretty clear to me. And that is to steer people to the pateron version so they can be 'wallet milked' for more money. And you may not agree with that, so let me explain why I say that:

The 'Black version' has only a few quests that are missing in the 'Gold/Steam version'. Those quests are cited by the developers as: "Being against the Steam TOS"
But, those few quests (the urchin quest, the Chemont haunted house quest, maybe more now) would also be against the pateron TOS. And they even include in the Steam/Gold version, one quest that has the same 'content' as both of those missing quests, if/when Claire meets the Baker (Charlotte) in the Hookton village start.

And on top of that you got the whole "All characters in the game are over 18" disclaimer covering them. So there's no reason they should say anything in the game is against the Steam TOS.

But also there is the entire C.B.R. quest line, the Ranger quest line, and a single quest in the main quest(so far), that is still in violation of the pateron TOS; As that type of content has gotten other studios banned from pateron. Like Studio FOW, as was mentioned in their trailer for 'Subverse'.
