There is a server for each class, though a lot of them are not very active. However, they remain more centered specific to the class, guides, rotations, etc. rather than SOLO as a whole. The Warrior Discord vs the Warrior text channel on the SOLO Discord is a huge difference. The Discord has guides, optimized rotation and gear for various specs, along with DPS Meter comparisons for helping everyone with their DPS.
Last message on the official discord in the Warrior channel, July 18th, 2022. Last message on the Warrior discord, last week.
As for why it makes sense, it's because Gameforge (and the moderation team itself) is pretty inactive on the official Discord, and they don't provide a lot of the resources in order for each class channel to have their own sections so that we can all grow it and stuff. So, matters ended up being taken into the players' hands, and the community has come up with its own resources to help everyone. Just like we had a SOLO Wiki, though... that fell apart, as the players that owned it seemed to have quit and just abandoned it and shut it down. The same with SOLO-Tools, which had an interactive map where players could see where all the items, resources, etc. were. But that too shut down.
The community may be small, it always has been let's be real, but there's always been groups of players who want to help others and have the community benefit from that help, so that newcomers don't feel left out. Not everyone's like that, but there's quite a few that are.
For FFXIV, there is a discord called "The Balance" and has resources, guides, rotations ect. on every single job, including gatherers and crafters. So it seemed weird to me to split it up to different discords, where it's a bit harder to get info on multiple classes and have discussions with more than one class for, let's say. opener optimization or something.
WoW has it aswell, i believe its a normal thing i think as long as new people know where to look
There was a server at the very beginning called Cloudrise, but unfortunately the owners of that server just randomly shut it down lmao. No one else has been wanting to do it, since it's all separated now. I considered making it myself but just don't have enough time to coordinate and make it happen.
I'd find it more troublesome monitoring multiple discords compared to multiple channels.
I mean, argue it all you want. Unfortunately, the only centralized server that we had for all classes (Cloudrise) disappeared and no one else wanted to remake it, so each class got their own discord made by different people. And the official Discord has barely any resources to support a full fledged class area 🤷♂️
It is what it is. Been this way since 2021.
By the way, if anyone else happens to be reading this: We will be working with RipSoul with his DPS Parse Discord for the community spreadsheet (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1cXLW1DCNN0qD5kv3PARSmSXkTm-q7iBMdqWUdpMv-sY/htmlview) when the Archer releases. This should help in seeing where each class is, balance-wise, in the most optimized of settings.
Currently we have a handful of players in the Discord, some of whom have played the CN or TW version and can offer some advice on the class. I've uploaded each Archer skill icon for ease of explaining a combination of skills or opener, or what have you. So, the door's open for anyone interested in the upcoming Archer class! 😌
Oh that's just a shortlink to the spreadsheet. The full link is: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1cXLW1DCNN0qD5kv3PARSmSXkTm-q7iBMdqWUdpMv-sY/htmlview
i hope but i am afraid just Archer wont be enough but for sure atleast the first week 90% of the people will be archer and it will be very hard to find a group
