Player count question
Being a fan of the legendary Age of Wushu (prior to it's death) I've been waiting for another game like that to come along. I don't expect SoLO to fill that void but I'm still keen on trying it. I just wanted to ask tho is there a playerbase outside of steam? Since it's bellow 400 players on steam I'm hoping that's not it's entire playerbase otherwise... What's the point?

The game is accessible through Steam, Epic Games, official launcher, and GeForceNow.
With Steam, you have 1000~1100 online at peak hours in EU.
With official launcher, around 300-500.
Epic Games, probably 100.
GeForceNow, unknown to say.

If you truly want to progress in this game, PvE-wise, you need to join a guild.
PvP, don't bother if you are NA. EU PvP scene is very active from what I heard.

Dang, Such a shame Wuxia games aren't popular in Western culture,

If you were NA, you could try PvP but the queue times are very long. The NA PvP scene died as soon as Lost Ark came out.

I'm not usually into PvP honestly I just don't want the game world to be empty

Then yeah, the population is small. The most times you will see people is if you are in Cloudrise (main city hub) or when doing weeklies.

Fair enough. I'll play it for a few hours and see how things feel. I'm stupidly chasing the glory days of Age of Wushu

there are a lot of time gates on this game so most players only login for an hour or two and left, the chart does not show the real number of players in this game because players login and out at different time. I am pretty sure if they reduce the time gates somewhat there will be more players staying login to play the game. More meaningful rewards will result in more playing time and the number of players at any give time will go up.

You won't find it here. Talked to others who tried to do the same and they were disappointed.

Nothing to keep you from trying though, just saying how it will probably turn out, like it did for the majority of initial players.
