I am struggling, is there a guide to help me?
I know I am just not seeing the things I need to do clearly, like for a bit I didn't understand how to craft anything. Some things are farm sim standards but the lack of inventory and the cost of a drone seems really expensive. The whole eating cards thing...what is up with that? I love the feel of this game and the graphics are adorable. Do not like the cooking challenge, I really dislike those type of games. I play games like this to chill. Is there a downside to not doing the challenge?

Personally I think the best way of playing this game is by taking your time to learn things. The beginning is overwhelming, but there is also no need to rush anything.
Now for the cards, they are like skills you can unlock. For the cooking minigame, get more movement speed, I think people might be neglecting movement speed attribute too much. The cooking minigame is the only stressful aspect of the game which is a great change of pace.

Most of the crafting things are unlocked by doing quests, so be sure to talk to random characters. Especially Tobias, Cedric and Aamy at first. Gather ores you will need for later, plus wood and stone. The crafting inventory will unlock slowly. Also, collect any everberries you see and keep them.
You can skip the cooking game, but always do the VR minigame, the prizes are much better. Anything else, just ask.

Thank you everyone. The best part of cozy game culture is no one ever says 'Get Gud...Newbie'

I personally think it needs re-balancing, being asked to make cake, bread and pizza bases from scratch and still meet the quota for prizes (when other ones are easier because they provide those) is mean

There's some nice guides on Steam, just click on Library > Everafter > Guides. Read the starter tips one; that's really helpful. There's no wiki yet but these work just as great.

Most of the other mechanics are the same as other farming games, except instead of upgrading your bag, you upgrade your pet's inventory or equip a drone. And the fishing rod isn't useless now; you can grab stuff with it. Instead of using skill points, the skill points are now in the form of cards you 'eat'. It's really not that different from other farming games if you think about it.

The cooking mini game is not compulsory. It just gives you some nice prizes if you can beat it. You can just ignore Hersha if you don't care for it. I personally like it but admit some of the highest prizes (rainbow pixie tapper :(((() are impossible to get lol. Also each round is a set of different recipes so you can screenshot/write the recipes down to use to complete your cooking musuem without paying money to buy the recipe books (some kind soul in the Guides already did this for you too).

If you're having trouble with the dungeons put your points (cards & jewelry) into HP and Healing.

You are not alone. I also had to look up guides and try to remember what I can with the huge amount of information I’d need to play this game. It’s overwhelming and some stuff I still don’t get and I’ve taken my time to learn. I really want to finish the story while feeling stressed with some game mechanics. I’m trying my best.

I hope someone can help me. I have this piñata animal from the mail. I haven’t set up barns yet because I found making crops and some other items to be unbalanced as far as profit, while struggling to have money and figuring out what to spend on first.

Here is what it looks like:

Thank you for being kind at helping us :happyfroggy:

I have never played Stardew Valley and have read some horrible comments towards players who can’t figure that game out. Sometimes I’m a little apprehensive to ask questions here because of that.

When Stardew first came out it was next to impossible. Many people don't know that, but I got the game very early and I remember. Now there is a huge wiki so of course it's easy to do if you can just look up everything.

Yes a wiki for this game would be helpful.

Don't sell your letters like it did, recycle them at the post office, and later your house.

Can someone tell me if this piñata is worth having? I don’t know what it does or its benefits, it just says “Suspended Ponya” and no other info. Sorry I didn’t add my question to my original post.

It's an actual barn animal; just put it into a barn slot to 'reanimate' it.

It needs a large barn...at least the one I have did.
